It would be nice to see a more "swipable" interface. One obvious area would be in the ship status screen -- swipe the screen left or right to access Captain/Ship/Cargo status screens.

I saw your post, and agree wholeheartedly with your suggestion there. I'm asking for something slightly different here, though...just a UI update for the existing ship status screen.

I was JUST thinking about this! For instance, have a bar on the bottom of the map to allow menu access or swipe through the planet screens... go to stardock, swipe to go to exchange, palace etc

=> Swipe to Change Status Pages => Swipe to Change Urban Zone Buildings
Other...? Like/Dislike??? => Swipe to Retreat in Combat => Swipe to Advance in Combat => Swipe to Dock/Land in Sector Menu => Swipe to Switch Resource Reports => Swipe to change Rumors/Contracts/Conflicts

The only one I take issue with is the advance/retreat in combat one, and not really for any reason more than aesthetics. I don't mind the look of the battle screen now with all my buttons in a nice convenient place. All the others having swipe accessibility sounds great though, especially the contracts/faction/rumors group.

I agree. The swipe would be best fit for separate sub screen navigation

I am having trouble making swiping work with scrolling.
I'm still trying to improve the UI somehow tho.

maybe just tap screen? it would be nice to have access from factions to conflicts screen with one tap. idea of getting info about contracts and rummors from map is also good

Yeah, the more related buttons available the better I think. Just looking at how I navigate around the menus if the options are there to jump around as koles says from factions to conflicts and other related menus without things feeling too crowded on screen I would be a happy camper.
As for swipe functions...swipe course plotting on the zoom map would be uber sexy if courses weren't cancelled out after each event.

Agree with the swiping to change urban zones and ship/galaxy/(forgot the option). For the battle one might be a bit too dangerous to put swiping in that cause might accidently swipe to escape when you really wanted to torpedo that guy

there are now buttons to cycle
rumors/conflicts/contracts/factions
Android swipe doesn't work where you have scrolling, so it is difficult to add to text interfaces.
returning to the main dock activity also performs a bunch of game logic, so that's just going to be the UX, the Captain always returns to the main docking area after a sub-docking area visit.
