I feel like when new Crew sign up with your ship, they should already have a good idea what Profession you are, and therefore have realistic expectation of what sea life on board your ship will be like. It feels very weird to have Commissions as the only way to elevate Morale above 7. I'm making thousands of silver by trading, why do they want me to waste my time doing Commissions? It would make a little more sense if there were Profession-specific ways to increase Morale. Here are some ideas I had in mind. Sailor | 50% chance +1 when completing a delivery/transport Commission | Merchant/Smuggler | +1 on a single trade yielding over 200 silvers | Pirate | 30% chance +1 when looting a ship | Swashbuckler | +1 when defeating a bounty Commission target, +3 if target is involved in a Blood Feud (any Faction), -1 if defeated, or target escapes
| Knight | +1 when defeating hostile nomads +3 when defeating a War/Raiding target (home Faction only) -1 if defeated by a target |
This way it fits in more with your role in the world, instead of forcing every class to do Commissions. You could also make it so that the chance to increase Morale decreases by 5-10% per difficulty level, and maybe increase the threshold for qualifying Merchant/Smuggler trades. What do you think?
