Just a funny thing I ran across while trying to recreate the scene from Aliens where Ripley toasts all the alien eggs:
As long as you don't move, fire won't touch you in TA. So if your dumb Hydra sets the team on fire: Just stand still and shoot the few aliens that make it into your white-hot flame-themed party. Also, bring Marshmallows!
Btw, yes that means alien eggs > Hydra plasma fire. You need direct hits to kill them :-P

Cool - I thought you were going to mention when you have two knights and a Xeno in the middle. Sometimes the Xeno gets confused, moves towards one knight, then turns around, moves towards the other, and back and forth

Hehe, I haven't been in a position to play Pong with a xeno yet, but I've seen them move around weirdly. Especially Those 3x3 rooms seem to confuse the xenos mightily. I suppose they don't have a very high Tactics skill ;-)

This should be a function of Solders and Berserker armor.
Let me double check that the logic hasn't spread to cover Scouts, Hydra, Neptune.

It's a GREAT function Cory - don't nerf it - it's like hunkering down because your mad pyro buddy has accidentally pulled the trigger while facing a wall. Yes it does happen. Yes we do thwack him afterwards. One year he will learn. Maybe it's best if we rub his nose in the fire. Bad Pyro.

you're down a few accuracy points because of the fire, but if you don't move your suit's cooling system will suppress the fire.
Hydra trooper is smart enough to not directly blast a Templar with the plasma jet.

Yes, it's that single word "directly" that differentiates stupidity from nasty. He can't specifically target a squad member, but he can accidentally burn right in front of him, roasting any squad in front of him. Attachments:

I can confirm that this code has many issues.
1.) While I knew about it, it was not in the help 2.) It has leaked to effect all Templars, not just Soldiers and Berserkers 3.) It effects the first blast of fire as well as following turns.
feedback me, plz.

Love it. Keep it. My soldiers are used to playing musical statues when their Hydra sets the area on fire.
Questions: 1) Do you lose your ability to cool if you turn in any direction? 2) Do you lose your ability to cool if you step OUT of fire into a clear square? (ie, does that movement put you at risk of feeling the heat of the bbq?

For the gameplay itself, I like the current situation. Not only for "accidents", but also as an emergency tactic that can save your templars at the cost of not being able to move them and reduced accuracy. I like the idea of them hunkering down, protecting the more vulnerable parts of their armor.
Of course, if you read the description of the incinerators, the plasma is hotter than that of a Void Engine. Kinda weird if a Leviathan suit can just sit in that for several "minutes", even if it's not the direct hit but the splash around it.
Here's a little fantasy (that probably takes waaayyy too much time for a relatively small part of the game when you'd rather work on AoP or HoS)
- Templars get a new stat: Heat - This is always zero during normal gameplay. Standing in fire at the start of the turn or using AP while in fire will increase heat by one point (or has % chance to increase heat based on shielding). - If Heat reaches its limit, any extra Heat added instead converts to HP damage. - Heat goes down one point for every turn started not in fire.

I have added #TA-1986 to make flame damage egg sacks!

Cyrus -- love it. However, we will save our heat system for another game. But Andrew and I do have one that is awesomest. ----- The Leviathan Armor suit was designed for extreme operation. This equipment was used to repair installations located in near orbit to stars. The Leviathan is incredibly durable and constructed of materials capable of withstanding crushing gravity, heat and radiation.

Honestly I don't see how you can have that much of a problem setting your whole squad on fire all the time. At some point you have to stop blaming the Hydra.

contributor, I just put forward that unlike all other units, Hydras have the unique capability TO reduce the HP of his team. Further, Hydras also have the unique ability to hinder movement in a particular direction AFTER the turn is complete. I have my Hydra under careful supervision all the time so in reality, he's never actually burned his squadmates. He is, actually very useful from time to time, but I dare not say it otherwise people may think that I have started seeing the light and next they'll say that Steel Song really aren't all that bad and Cadar loves flowers and peace.
