Independent faction and reputation

Does anyone else feel that the poor Independents get a bit of a bad deal. I mean, you get to fly in their space, destroying any independent ships with impunity (regardless of who provoked who), yet you can still land on their planets, get ship repairs, and stuff.

I can understand Independent planets don't care about the galactic political arena. They care not if one faction is allied or at war with another. However, they SHOULD care that you are attacking, looting, and destroying their ships, especially in their space.

I would love to see Reputation Points added for the Independent planets - if you piss them off too much, they should rightly try and block you from their docks and exchanges.

From what I understand, independent captains are simply captains with no one to back them up. Independent planets are the same, but on a much larger scale.

I think the root of the confusion is that Independents have a flag and are capitalized.
