A berserker seems to only have a sight range of 3 while moving. I don't know if this is intended or not. However, what clearly can't be intentional is that armor or shields with the Atreus system don't extend this range! I equipped my Berserker with all combinations of default Leviathan (no Atreus), Berserker Powerarmor (Atreus), Leviathan Shield (no Atreus) and Null Shield (Atreus). No combination gave any other result than 3 sight range. This is compared to 4 range for all other Templars and 5 range with Atreus. The stationary sight range is 6 for all of them, including Berserkers. Pics or it didn't happen: johndramey, you are using a high AP Berserker too I saw, are you getting the same result?

Cyrus - it is intentional that fog has a very limited update while you are walking, Atreus or not. The diagram you have posted seems correct to me, but I am not sure I understand all the different labels and actions.

I know that Templars only get 4 squares of sight when moving, or 5 with Atreus.
Berserkers seem to get only 3 and Atreus doesn't add to that. If Atreus doesn't work for Berserkers, then why are there armors and shields that have it?

I've found when moving fast, even with Atreus, your visibility is severely impaired and Xeno's can still be just outside of the Fog of War. Moving slowly means you are less impacted by this restriction. You're just so used to Hydras Ambling at the speed of a slow rock.

Quite the opposite, my scout + hydra squad is usually blazing along at 5 squares per turn, so I'm quite familiar with the mobile sight range. I guess everyone else rarely moves more than 2-3 squares so they don't notice this. When I swapped a scout for a berserker, I noticed a huge difference.
Where the scout can see 5 squares ahead the berserker can only see 3. That's with both of them having the Atreus system. Without Atreus, the scout can see 4 ahead and the berserker still 3.
I hope Cory can explain how it's supposed to work so I know what to compare my observations to. The help file is rather limited in that regard.

Here is another try to show what seems wrong to me: Both the scout (orange) and the berserker (green) have Atreus. Both have moved forward 4 squares. Yet the scout has a much bigger sight range than the berserker, shown by the diamonds. In fact, every other type of templar has more sight range *without* Atreus than a berserker *with*. Maybe Atreus has some hidden function on top of extending the sight range, but it doesn't seem to do anything for Berserkers. I guess nobody else is really interested in figuring out how the fog of war works, so I'll leave it at this. (grumpy comments don't help) What I meant to say is: I'm surprised everyone is just going by "Sight is very limited, so whatever you see must just be that."

As the system stands now, the Berserker will be limited to 3 range when moving at all times. Neither the Atreus nor special shields (Thunder, Hunter, Drakos, Null Shields) will raise the fog sight above 3 when moving! It's one of the perks of being a mighty melee monster! #TA-2078 to take a look at this now that I've grokked the code block. Thanks for retracting the grumpy comments Helped me get the issue opened.

Cyrus, I wasn't dis-interested in the FOW limitations ... I had just accepted this as part of the game core (like movement, weapons ranges, and Hydras liking to burn everything). When the game first came out, there wasn't a FOW, and it was something requested due to the fact you could see Xeno's moving on the other side of the map and you could plan more effectively. However, I do agree that you should get better range of sight even if you are moving because your sensors can't be that crap that you need to be stationary in order to get them properly calibrated. If anything when moving with Atreus, you should be able to have better forward FOW than rear FOW. That is, your sensors are calibrated more for picking up threats in front of you than behind or the sides. I remember the last time I was grumpy on this forum ... <grrr> and <grrr> again just thinking of it

Haha, good find Cyrus. Sorry I didn't reply, it's the weekend here and I always drop off the internet on the weekend. I've never really noticed the FOV thing, but I guess that's a fair point. I can see what fallen is saying though, a shield would reduce visibility. However, with some of the shields specifically mentioning that they are giving high mobility/enemy detection, there maybe some room for modification. Is it possible to adjust the FOV greatly based on gear? If so, maybe a heavy specced berserker should maintain the 3 range FOV while moving. The light, skirmisher spec could have something closer to the scout's FOV?

Thanks for the reply, fallen (and slayernz and johndramey too, of course) In another thread about Berserkers, Cory posted that both Wards and Atreus stack. I figured maybe Berserkers start with a sight range of 3 so that they don't go over 5 range when equipped with 2 Atreus-enabled pieces of gear. But as you said, atm they're at 3 range regardless of Atreus. Maybe there are other advantages to Atreus that still make it worth having?

Well that's cool, means I'll be using my berserker as the lead to my squad and the captain as the rear-guard. The berseker is such an awesome unit!
