Have you ever been out exploring the galaxy, and had a cargo hold full of hot artifacts, and needed to stash them somewhere, quick? You're a seasoned explorer, so you remember there was a planet in this sector that would be perfect for storing your illicit goods, but you don't remember which of the 5 wild planets in water-fuel range it is. You take a random guess, and you only find a planet with a cache value of (1). Once the heat is off, you return, and find your stash ransacked, all your valuables gone. No worries, you remember there was a planet nearby with a hazard to explore ratio of <1, where you can regain your fortune. Again, you choose poorly, finding a hazardous planet, and are eaten by a grue. A sad end for your intrepid adventurer.
But what if, when you go to a wild planet, you can launch a survey, or a probe, or some such, and from then on, the hazard, explore, harvest, and cache values of the planet can be reviewed from the Captain's star map, before plotting a course back to the planet. Then your brave adventurer would have kept his stash, been able to sell it for great profit, and known which planets to go back to to explore again eventually becoming the ruler of the galaxy.
TL;DR Summery
Some way to, from the star map, view the hazard, explore, harvest and cache values of visited planets.

If I may make a recommendation here. I think that, perhaps instead of what you're considering, make it simpler by adding a condensed version of relevant info in the form of a pop-up when you single-touch(or long-touch) a planet. A quick toast might be best, but it's just an idea to go on. I mean, the info is already there when you land anyway(starports and colonies have star ratings, wilds have danger/explore/harvest/cache numbered ratings), so a reminder would be very handy. Besides, most sci-fi the navigational computer would typically give a readout of that info, so it's not like it would be detrimental or "casualizing" the game in any way.
Just thought I'd put my 2ยข.
