turn based games have always been my favorite and of that genre the xcom series is the best i have played. ive been waiting for a similar game to come out on android so i was glad to find Templar Assault, which to me is the closest thing to xcom that is on the store (at least that ive found so far)
ive played through the tutorial on standard (or whatever the default level was) and there appear to be two glaring omissions. in fact, they are so glaring that im guessing they arent omissions, just something i havent found yet. i searched the forums and didnt find a single person requesting these things so im pretty confident i must have just missed them
the Next Soldier button is essential to a turn based game like this. this is a simple cycling through which soldiers still have action points left, of course excluding those that have used up all their AP. when you have the potential for soldiers to be on different parts of a scrolling screen this is especially crucial so that you arent whipsawing back and forth manually just to remind youself where your soldiers are and to find one with AP remaining. i realize that you are taken to the next soldier when your AP is used up on one of them, but this isnt nearly good enough. an easy to find next button is mandatory for this type of game imo
as far as i understand, there are a total of three possible phases for a single turn. i will call them 'fresh', 'reaction', and 'remainder'. fresh is a brand new turn where everyone is at max AP. reaction is where you get a chance to move/attack/whatever after the aliens have moved and you get to use any AP you still have. remainder is after you have reacted and still have AP left. frankly im confused about the third phase bc im not sure it even exists but it sure feels like there are three phases sometimes. and i guess thats the point, you have changed this reaction phase from fully automatic (the latest xcom games do this) to manual (the earlier xcom games did this), which i think is great. but not easily knowing what phase you are in is very frustrating. as you can imagine, your strategy is completely different if you are fresh vs when you only have limited abilities to react
again, im going to bet im just being a blockhead and missed these things. if not, i would urge you to add them as they would dramatically improve the game imo
thanks and take care
