With the rules stating one can only use a ship of their faction, does that mean one is limited to the ships that can be bought inside the military base? My understanding of that (assuming that there aren't any rule changes) is that any ship that carries your home faction flag is legal. It doesn't matter whether you have bought it at your home faction's stardock, military base or shot one of your own faction's pirates up and taken it off him.

slayernz I think I'm going to stick with the ship rule. You are a zealot after all! What kind of zealot would stoop to such levels as not flying their own faction's flag? Zealots are not known for making coherent logical arguments that "in the long run I'll probably kill more of my enemies ships if I just turn...." No they zealously buy and fly only their own factions ships. I suppose a really true zealot could even poach one of his own factions bounty hunters or pirates, because after all they are not zealously enough committed to fighting for their own faction or they would also be zealots like him.

My last post makes me think that there needs to be enemy Zealot type captains in the game. They would attack you anytime you had negative rep or there was a conflict between your faction and their faction regardless of any positive rep/trade permits/rank you might have with them. Maybe they should be pretty rare though.

Hey there, thread. So we are officially starting this week, yeah? I think I'll start rolling my character and seeing what I can do with him. It is Monday here, after all

contributor, created a Zealot enemy captain for you in the wish area ... and am okay with only flying my faction's flag. I'm also still okay with taking a better ship from one of my faction's captains if the need arises because I know it will be more useful to me than to them.

Just wanted to draw everyone's attention to the fact that I changed up the scoring formula a little. Made it simpler. You can see it in the first post in the challenge thread.

The Hammer of De Valtos, proud Zealot of the one and true Syndicate, De Valtos has enthusiastically begun to demonstrate De Valtos superiority to the rest of the unwashed.

It looks like we've got De Valtos, Cadar, Thulun and Steel Song represented. Anybody flying for Javat or Rychart?

How many for Cadar? I thought me and Slayernz were go blow some Songsters together. Guess he'd rather be part of some mafia outfit.
Anyway, if we have too many, I can switch to Rychart or Javat. It doesn't actually matter to me. I'm in it for the explosions and non-biodegradable space debris.

Ugh, starting as Steel Song is hard. Only available contract at start up, "Blockade Javat Prime" next available contract, Blockade DV prime... one year has passed an I'm already at -55rep with DV.

HateSolstice, don't worry about it. You are clearly a Cadar zealot and should be playing for them. I'll go back and do player/faction list soon.

Alright, if you insist.
Now it's time to relearn how to die less quickly on crazy...or was it insane?

HateSolstice, Never fear, no matter what faction I play, I will kill Steel Song. Even if I am the Song, I'll kill Song contributor, apart from my very rational and sane reasons for despising Steel Song, I also know they have the suckiest planets in the quadrant. If you want a faction with minimal useful footprint, Steel Song is your faction. Don't worry though, I'll still be smearing your brethren all over void-space!
