Here is a quick & dirty guide to Cyber Knights (for beginners) -
I shall make it as "Spoiler free" as possible, only hinting at some goodies to be had.
Money/Cash/Wonga/Dosh:
Yep, this games revolves around it and you cannot do anything without it.
When you first start out your missions earn you little cash, but this will increase as time goes by.
Best way for early game cash is to stick with the "Fennian" ladder missions; as you already have a high rep with them. As yes the money will be poor to start with, but after a while it will increase. I think (not 100%) that after every 25+ rep gained you can speak with the ladder contact and he will promote you, offer a bonus (if your lucky) and better paid missions.
If in doubt, always chat with the contact before picking a new mission as you maybe due a bonus and promotion, this applies to all fractions. Once you start to earn between $700 to $1000 every other mission you can start to splash out on weapons and tech.
Combat:
There is a lot to learn in combat, but here are the basic's..
You will become exhausted after a while which means you will gain zero XP until you are rested or drop some "Crams". Outside of combat you stay in any Hotel/Safe House to recover, at a cost and it may take more than 1 day, which is why it is not wise to use them whilst on missions as you have a set amount of time to complete the mission. Check your computer/jobs section to see if you can risk a rest mid mission, if not drop some crams!
There are 2 areas to pay attention to:
1 - Your HP or Health points - getting low, drop a health pack or two mid combat - it will cost you -2 AP for each drop,
2 - Your MP or Mental points - getting low boost with Headlozz - remember each tablet costs -1 HP to +3 MP
MP is an area that is easy to forget about and will cause you lots of mission failures if you’re not careful as once depleted you are knocked out. Some droid attackers hit your MP almost exclusively and will often get 2 sets of three attacks on you!! So keep an eye on your MP.
Always keep on the move in combat if you are stuck in an open area,
Multiple enemy’s? - Scope the area first and look for a single width alleyway or fenced area and head straight for it, that way you can only have 1 or 2 units at any one time attack you - unless they are dogs as a tall unit can shoot over them! (or at an angle to your position, thats why you should be 2 squares into the alley)
To gain more AP (Attack Points) up Intelligence, Dexterity & Perception stats,
Remember the more implants you add the less XP you will earn, once you are beyond 300DV you will earn zero XP! (* See Implants below)
If you are on a "capture" mission and need to change weapons to a stun always remember to swap back to your main combat weapons after, as any advantage you may have in combat is lost if you need to change weapons midway as it will cost -2 AP for each change!
When you have the cash:
Stock up on "Crams" for exhaustion - Keep an eye out for this after long combat/taxi drives/Long walks and as you enter new zones,
Stock up on "HeadLozz" for -1HP hit, but a gain of +3MP - Important in MP combat,
Stock up on the +6 Health packs to start with as they are cheap, the +7 packs are almost double the price for only +1 health?!
Grab yourself a "nano-Ready" armor suit, then find the VIP lounge that sells the "Nano-Ready Medkit" which heals you by +10 HP. When used with a nano ready armor suit you will automatically be healed when your health hits zero!! Bloody handy, but the health packs are expensive!
Heat:
High heat in a zone?
Find a zone with 2 Hotels, bounce between the 2 staying a night in each and your heat will drop to zero - Sometimes this will not work (not sure why),
You can also burn heat down by drinking in the VIP lounges,
If there is a "Heat Wave" in a zone, skip out as you will only gain heat by staying in Hotels/VIP lounges,
Runners:
These are characters that stay with you for "X" amount of days or until killed. You can pick these up from contacts, VIP lounges, random and story missions. Once dead or out of hire time they can be re-hired from VIP lounges or, you can make them an ally if they have 50 XP to spend, they then stay with you at all times.
I won't go into detail about runners as I generally only use them for cannon fodder as almost all of them have terrible stats and would take sometime to make good. (I’m sure many people will disagree) I do have one runner that I made an ally and these are worth the time to build up.
But here are some of the grey areas covered:
Once you have a runner they will share and use your ammo, health packs and weapons. Matrix runners also use your CPU to hit the Matrix with, so no need to buy a second CPU for them!
They do have their own equipment screen where you can add new weapons and armor. I have noticed you cannot unequip their standard weapon, but you can replace it and then sell the old weapon.
They also gain XP, which can be spent in Hotels and Safe Houses, see XP below.**
Hacking:
I will not bother covering this as there are guide already. Plus i'm not great at it yet!
*Implants:
I will just skim this area for now.
Basically you have a choice of going down the human, all guns blazing route boosting your human stats with XP, creating a mixed character or you can go the full borg implant route, which is scary expensive, but offers many fine treats!
BUT, if you choose the full borg implant route you will eventually stop gaining XP to improve your player stats. It works like this:
Each implant has a DV rating, the higher the rating the higher the cost to your humanity. Once you hit and breach 300DV you will stop gaining any XP.
For each successful mission/task you complete a 300 sided dice is rolled against your DV rating to see if you gain XP, so if your DV rating is 300 or more – no XP.
You can of course create a character that has a little of both, which is what I have done.
**XP or Experience points:
These are gained after completing a task or mission and can only be spent in hotels or safe houses. As already noted above your will cease to gain XP once you are fully implanted!
They are spent on building your character up in strength and skills, and progressively get more expensive. How you go about building your character is completely up to you.
Spending XP:
As already mentioned, spending XP points can only be done at either a Hotel or Safe house.
There are 2 areas to look at, the 1st being:
Train Attributes - These are your base attributes used to build up a strong character and include the following:
Body - This stat affects how scary you are to other players - and is a base attribute that affects: Strength - Athletics, Brawling and Dexterity - Stealth & Firearms,
¬Strength - This stat affects how much damage you inflict - works with Athletics and Brawling skill,
-¬Dexterity - This stat affects how fast you move - works with Stealth and Firearms skills.
All 3 of these attributes are linked, once you build up beyond a certain number in Strength and Dexterity you will need to build up your Body attribute to unlock the next level.
Mind - This stat affects how you interact with other NPC's - and is a base attribute that affects: Intelligence - Electronics, Hacking and Perception - Negotiate & Intimidate,
¬Intelligence - This stat affects how you interact with your environment, such as negotiation and hacking - works with Electronics and Hacking skills,
-¬Perception - This stat affects how quick you are to see trouble, negotiate and find hidden items - works with Negotiate and Intimidate skills.
Again, these 3 attributes are linked, once you build up beyond a certain number in Intelligence and Perception you will need to build up your Mind attribute to unlock the next level.
(further clarity is needed on how the Mind (maybe others) directly affects your character)
The 2nd area to look at is:
Train Skills - These are your characters skills, and is where your truly train and shape your character into the profession you want and include:
Athletics - How fast you move and how far you move,
Brawling - Strength to hit, bare knuckles,
Stealth - How easy for you to Escape/Evade and stay silent in combat, (works with Perception)
Firearms - How proficient you are with guns,
Electronics - Your ability to repair health packs for re-use and Bomb disposal, (maybe something else?)
Hacking - How good you are in the Matrix, works along side your CPU,
Negotiate - How much you earn per mission and pay for goods, sell Paydata for,
Intimidation - You ability to scare enemy's into backing down and people who witness your actions.
Tips and tricks with skills/attributes:

Tips and tricks with skills/attributes:
Up your Athletics to be able to move great distances each turn in combat - Essential if you are a Sniper or Matrix addict,
If you like it up close and personal, boost your Brawling skill to do serious damage, be warned you need good Athletics too as many units attack from range, so just like a boxer be light on your feet,
If you find yourself running out of AP, boost your Intelligence, Dexterity and Perception to gain an edge,
If you want more cash for jobs, paydata or items you are selling boost up your Negotiating skills,
Like to find hidden goodies? You need to boost your Perception and Intelligence to find hidden crates - Be warned, you need to have great hacking skills to get into them or you wait around for combat and hope you win - your choice,
Keep failing Threaten missions? Boost your Intimidation skill,
To keep out of trouble when on long missions boost your Stealth and Perception skills so you can evade most random contacts - you still earn XP, just less heat and time wasted,
