It would be great to have a way for the group to stick together in free mode. Maybe designate a leader (the character you select would be perfect) and the rest of the group could follow without having to order them.

It would be great to have a way for the group to stick together in free mode. Maybe designate a leader (the character you select would be perfect) and the rest of the group could follow without having to order them. If I understand what you mean, then you can do that already. By the character portrait of the currently selected character there is a four square icon, if you click on that you can see the portraits for all team members and all the way on the right is 'three head' icon, if you press on that then everyone (if within range and not in combat mode) will group into one unit (looks like just the currently selected member) and move as one. Whatever character is active when hitting that 'group up' button will be the 'active leader', and the 'active leader' can be changed from that point by clicking on someone else in the four square icon (for example to switch to the thief to disarm traps/unlock something, etc..). Just hit that group button again to split up to individual members again (such as when hearing monsters near or after detecting trouble ahead with farsight)

Yes this is a very nice feature and I like that it automatically drops you out of it when your attacked.

The only thing I do not like about this feature is the order in which the characters pop out when you are attacked. I haven't tried it, but one of you smart people can confirm or deny.....I think the group order would be the same if I choose the same lead character every time. If that is not the case, I would like to be able to set the formation in which they disperse. Having the mage/archer pop out in front and immediately get attacked could prove problematic.

I like the fact you can collapse a group to a single character for general travel. I'd like that icon to be a button on the main UI rather than one menu down, because it's something that I'd use often. If I have designated a leader, I'd expect him/her to be in the front during an encounter. Instead, it seems he/she is surrounded by the rest of the squad.
In a way, it would be nice when you selected a leader, the rest of the squad didn't just disappear, but rather went dim, and followed the leader's movement.

Having the mage/archer pop out in front and immediately get attacked could prove problematic. I believe that may be the intent, if you are 'surprised/ambushed' then you won't be in an optimal position to deal with the threat, have to be careful and pop out yourself if you suspect there is danger ahead (such as ungroup to send the thief scouting, or use farsight with thief as active leader, etc..)

That is the intent, but we can do better. I like the comments in the thread and I know we can use them!

I really like the system as well, and would like to add one small request. As it is now after combat I need to spend a little time getting all of my duders into the same general area to group up. What would be really convenient would be a "gather" command that we could use to get our scattered team to come to our currently selected character. That way after combat you can just tap the gather command, wait a little bit of time, and have all of your other characters come to meet you for easing grouping!

johndramey - we used to have something like that but found it very challenging / dangerous as you may run into intervening traps / monsters and be sorry you clicked Gather at all.

Good point, it's really not that much of an issue with that cool little "next guy" button. Just found that thing!

If your squad is all visible on the one screen and you aren't in combat mode, I'd still want to be able to regroup into the single character icon without having to manually move the squad back together. If there is an encounter during regroup, so be it.
Also, make the single icon/full party thing a toggle. During normal exploration, if you have it set to a single icon, it would be nice to have you automatically go back to single icon again after any combat is finished.
