I mentioned this in a thread talking about the facelift most of the games are getting due to HoS's tech and such(except, apparently, ST).
Well, my suggestion is rather simple...I hope.
As the title suggests, the current configuration of the quick menu when in orbit or deep space hunting Steel So- I mean bad guys to kill, is a little clunky. In my opinion, of course. But, I would like to see one of a couple possibilities, even if you guys would just consider it:
• Rearrange the front menu to have Status, Conflicts, Rumors, Map, and Contracts. With the second page having everything else it already has. Center just feels like a waste of a button, and as picky as it may sound, Contracts just isn't in a good spot on the menu. Some of us hardly ever check on our contracts unless it's vital or about to expire. Just move it down to the corner and call it good.
• Allow us to rearrange the buttons how we like. I do not know if this is even possible with the current system, but this is a wish list after all.
In either scenario, I would also like to request an opacity slider, if feasible with the current system. If not, at least an option to turn opacity to a couple different presets. This might actually be the better idea than the slider bar. But I digress.
I hope this isn't asking too much, or is a pain in the ass, or whatever. It's mostly just a cosmetic change for the menu than a gameplay alteration.

HateSolstice - there is no way that we can allow players to re-arrange their own buttons. What is the opacity slider changing transparency on? I am not sure I am understanding the request in general. Probably stemming from the fact that I don't know what you are calling the "Quadrant quick menu" ... is that the HUD? Let's get talking the same language and then we can make some progress! P.s. why "except, apparently ST"? False!

fallen - The "quick menu" I am referring to is the pop-up menu that displays at the bottom half the screen when you press either the phone's own menu key, or the lower button that looks like 3 dots in a vertical line. As far as I have seen, this menu is only available when you are zipping around on the overmap. It's light gray, if that helps. This menu, in my opinion of course, feels like it could use a rearrangement of a couple buttons for quicker access to the most used and important data screens. I didn't know what else to call it, and quick menu sounded good. I wasn't meaning to confuse you. The opacity thing was just asking if we can make the menu colour either darker or just transparent. The current light gray just looks a little out of place with all darker colours in the game. My ST comment was referring to a post you made a couple days ago about how all of your other games are going to get tune-ups due to something with HoS, but then said ST couldn't get the same treatment because the system is too different or something...I can't recall which thread it was in at the moment. Sorry if I misunderstood, or completely confused even further.

HateSolstice - great, now I understand the quick menu we are talking about. Are you playing on a phone? Landscape or portrait? How many buttons are you seeing in your HUD? That quick menu is an overflow of the buttons we could not put in your HUD because of lack of screen real estate. Now I understand the comment about ST. The actual graphic surface used is very different from our second generation games (Cyber Knights, Templar Assault, Age of Pirates). These three games will get full pinch zoom, and Star Traders just got pinch in and out of the Quadrant map last night. Pinch zoom is one of many advancements we have already started bringing to the existing games from our work in Heroes of Steel, so don't feel like ST is getting left out on this front.

fallen - Just so I understand correctly, that menu resizes itself based on the device? Is that even remotely close? I play on a phone in portrait mode. I used to have a working HTC Inspire, which was a fantastic phone. Big screen, had no issues with games. But the charger port on it is really loose now, and doesn't charge unless I contort my hands in waus no man ever should, and even then it's spotty at best. So, now I'm reduced to this backup, a Samsung Gravity Smart SGH-T589. I think it's called a Gravity Smart at least. It was a hand-me-down from my sister, and can't really do anything well. But, I can play ST, so whatever. What do you guys think you'll be able to do with ST with all the new shenanigans going down? I'm just curious to know what the future holds. And I am nosey.

HateSolstice - we've got some exciting plans for more contract types in the works, and there are continued discussion about a ship builder. Yes, that menu resizes itself automatically. Try turning your phone to landscape. You should see it changes -- items it can fit will move into the HUD.

fallen - Well, don't I look silly. Maybe someday I will get around to buying a tablet. Oh well, good to know about the menu. I still wouldn't mind being able to turn it transparent, because like I said before, that light gray really clashes with the rest of game's colour schemes. If that's not possible, then I'll just kill this thread. Or fill it with links to pics and videos of cats doing adorable and dumb things.
