I installed Alpha 2 and was expecting to start from perhaps the end of where Part 1 finished, but I'm starting from the beginning of the first dungeon all over again? Is this normal/expected?

Normal and expected. Granthorn is designed to support character builds that have the XP, Gold and items found in Cellet Void.

Sadly, those dungeons had to be deleted to make way for the new dungeons. =)
The +10XP shrine was fun, yeah? =)
