I didn't see this already posted. It's a variation on the ship-purchasing problems that have already been mentioned.
I am playing "Insane," and am a level 21 captain. I have death warrants/permits/military ranks with all clans/houses. I also have about 1m credits.
Three times now I've been prevented from buying a ship at stardock. It's quite odd. Usually, if you do not have the cash to make a purchase, then the "purchase" button is greyed out. Yet, I do have the cash to afford these purchases (and thus the button is not greyed out). When I click on purchase, a little blue screen pops up that says the Captain does not have the Credits for this transaction. When I go to the ship status screen, it displays the correct amount of credits (which is enough to cover the purchase). When I go back to the ship purchase screen and click the purchase button again, the same thing happens. After I exit the stardock and go to the exchange (as part of the same planet visit), the exchange now shows that I have some bizarre amount of negative money. For instance, after the Cedar/Remoocle (sp?) shipyard refused to let me buy the Flagship Carrier (or was it the Flagship Cruiser? The ship with a hold of 150), the exchange said I have "$-4,000,000" credits.
Since Cedar is apparently the only House who will sell this type of ship, I can't buy it from anyone!
Note: this same bug also happened earlier in my game when I was trying to buy some ship at the De Valtos shipyards (the planet at 1,1).
One other bug, Cory: sometimes when I depart a planet on which I had done some exploring there's a bug in the ship's holds. I think it happens when I am exploring and run out of water-fuel and start burning lux rations. If the switch from water to rations happens, and I also fill my hold with artifacts I've discovered, then when I depart the planet my hold mysteriously has water-fuel in it. This water fuel, moreover, fills my hold ABOVE capacity (i.e., my hold will read 84 items in an Atmo Cutter, which has a hold capacity of 70). Fyi.
