When you go in to cargo and look at the various resources, you can go in to each separate resource to get a list of (mostly) up to date values at places you've been. Is it possible to get some kind of sort or added value to show what faction affiliations each planet is? With some it's obvious, but (like now in my game) when 4-5 out of 6 factions are embargoed with each other, would be GREAT to have a way to check and go 'ah, cheap here and that indie/non-embargoed planet pays lots for it (without a surplus/lack of type).
While I do have some of the planets memorized, and there is the interactive map, it's not always easy to pull up, and waiting out multiple embargoes can be a real pain and drain on funds.
Like right now, the only one not under embargo is DeValtos.. And trying to make money when I purchase something and then realize that the best sales location is an embargoed one is really hurtful when I basically have to turn around and re-sell it for a loss.

So I hate to revive such a long dead post, but I searched for exactly this question and here it is. Has there been any more thought to implementing this? I don't even have a clue how the game sorts that list of planets in the first place, but it would be nice if it sorted it some how. Even if it was just alphabetically (Aro Capital, ... to ..., Zenoch Refugee) or something like that.
It would probably be difficult to implement letting the user choose how the list is sorted, but if I can do it in Excel, I'd imagine it can't be too difficult in the game (could be completely wrong though). Sorting options that would be useful could be by:
- Proximity (closest to farthest planet) - Clan/Syndicate (same order as appears on the Faction Politics page) - Lowest Buy Price - Highest Sell Price
Again, just having them sorted alphabetically would help me since by now I can remember where most of the planets are/what clan they belong to. Clan symbols next to the names would be great too, but it would be a tight fit since there is already a lot of information on that page. Maybe too in depth a question, but, what kind of database does the game use to create those tables?

I think it might be sorted by distance to your current position. At least, the list available from the zoomed out view is done by proximity.
As this lists the faction of ownership, I guess as a temporary measure you can cross-reference the two lists

Actually, I have the most recent update and I believe it populates the list as you visit a planet. So any new planets you visit get populated at the bottom of the list. The only thing that gets updated are the prices when you revisit a planet already on the list. So if the first planet I visit is De Valtos Prime and I visit 10 planets after that and Rychart Prime is the 12 planet I visit, then Rychart Prime will always be 12th on my list of planets. Once I return to De Valtos Prime, the prices for De Valtos Prime will update, but it will stay at the top of my list. I guess I never noticed that until recently.
Therefore, it is never actually sorted. It just gets populated as you progress through the map. So my guess is that actually implementing a sorting feature on that list would take quite a bit of programming and take up a decent amount of additional space. It may be worth it though as that would be extremely helpful in planning out trade routes to travel. As it is right now, I have to scan the whole list looking for which planets are the closest and have the best prices for me to sell/buy goods. With my current character that list has about 50 planets on it.

roboAnd that's why I should check stuff before posting I never noticed that, although as my playstyle at the moment is 'kill all Clans and sell the debris to independents, and restricted goods to syndicates', I'm not too worried about prices, as military rank 21 makes prices sooo good That's my excuse

I do have a character that is focused on solely killing things, which is awesome for lower difficulties and not too worried about trade.
My current character on Hard though is trying to keep positive rep with all of the clans/syndicates and focuses more on trade and courier missions. Meaning a sorting feature would be extremely helpful. Still haven't gotten a Star Trader on Hard to live past year 100 AE. Those darn Xenos always seem to catch up to him and take him out.

The ship designer helps massively when you can afford to spend 800k on a ship.
234 crew makes short work of aliens in boarding.
