Maybe I'm missing something, but other than for the flavor of it, I see no benefit of using shotguns over the various hand cannons available.

gravismetallum - I would say, I use them for the higher accuracy and higher damage. Hand cannon's can't compete in those two departments, though they definitely beat shotguns on armor penetration. Try the Fallaugh series for top of the line.

I always thought that if they are that close I would want the armor pen over a bit more damage, but have never tested the idea. I will have to test that now...till horrible power armored cyborgs with jump packs start showing up, then its back to better armor penitration.

Shotguns are beast in gang land, and before you get the Firearm skill up above 8.

Cory Trese - I can only imagine. The only issue being the cost of the ammo... And speaking of ammo.. I've never seen anything but pistol drop, from anything.. Is that a bug or just horrendous luck on my part?

The Fallaugh Loader really is amazing in corp land when doing assassination missions. It's fire and tactically reposition.

The Fallaugh Devastator is my go-to when everything starts going sideways. Definitely worth the creds.
