Every dock I seem to go to including my home country doesn't have the "purchase option" when you are selecting a ship when you press "trade in" it asks if you really want to sell your current ship. In ST there was another button for purchasing a ship and dry docking it. It had to be in your home faction but it served to be very useful. Is there something I'm missing? I've even ranked 17 with my faction, and would really like to have multiple ships.

Also curious about this... the text in the purchase screen indicates there is an option to buy a ship by differentiating between an outright purchase or a trade-in... yet there is no option for purchase.
It appears some aspects of the game were never finished... is there still an intention to do so?
Note that I'm a new player and just purchased the elite version. The existing game is well worth the price I paid, but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed that a lot of what thought was "disabled" in the free version is actually unfinished and doesn't exist at all, even in the elite version.

Our apologies about this. We can work on suprressing that part of the UI until the dry dock features are added, if we are able to do so, at a later date.

I don't really see the need to suppress things, that wouldn't exactly finish the game either.
As a trader, the game runs like this: - Buy and sell exclusively, avoiding negative rep from commissions, but a monotonous slog of the same exact thing making small, incremental increases in gold, literally hitting "salute" and "avoid" thousands of times on all is the encounters (which also can create negative rep)
- OR, take commissions, level up, increase (and decrease) Rep, but make entire areas of the map unplayable due to negative rep. At this point you can become a pirate and start fighting ships, but you're no longer a merchant then.
Point is, the unfinished aspects of the game leave huge gaps in it. Large enough to unfortunately make me want to shelf the game after only a few hours of gameplay. It's more work than fun with no payoff...
I don't come here to trash the game or anyone involved, because the base game is great and has so much potential. I'm just disappointed that it appears to be an abandoned game.
In short, kudos for the game mechanics and creating a great environment for a great game. Sadly that's not enough to make something "fun," but man there's so much potential here.

@captain potato - thanks for the feedback! Suppressing things would help reduce confusing, it certainly doesn't add or finish features.
I would agree that if you play exclusively with one strategy or the other, then things will become a bit repetitive. Are you using Rumors and political Conflicts to your benefit? Tried exploring and stashing? If you feel like you've reduced the game to a grind on one difficulty, try upgrading to the next level up, as it will force you to play more of the game instead of a smaller stripe of what is available.
