Ahh.. The plot. (Spoilers below)
The Escape. Kyera senses something far more evil than steel in cruel hands. Is this being done with the Baron's approval, or is his wizard acting on his own? There is something unnatural about some of the soldiers, what could have corrupted them. Was it voluntary, are they secretly in a cult of a dark god, or twisted by one. Why would someone be so afraid of this one Outlander apart from others of his homeland to want him dead so badly. Why keep a common thief alive. Does Karjtan have something the Baron wants. What did he mean that they were not digging tunnels. They must be digging for something else. Again the Baron's wizard must have a hand in this. Perhaps a dark artifact of power.
The Deeps. Vraes cuts a trail of gore through the expected to find the unexpected. Used to the kill and be killed in the in the shadows. In the wind of the caverns death sings its song. Spiders grown fat and strong called by the tinkling of his dinner bell. They pass through normal ratkin camps. The ratkins usually appear disorganized raiders ruled by strength with no other purpose than to loot and kill. Why now are the camps becoming fortified minefields. Are the ratkins fighting each other, or becoming more organized under common purpose. Should they every act in unison there power could be unstoppable.
Before the gates. Oskahold at Last a safe refuge. But wait, new fortifications, the fresh earth tossed up from a deep trench? Why does the guard demand they speak in common Kallassian when clearly they are human. Has Oskahold been infiltrated. Is it not under the Baron's protection. What threat comes from within. At the first sign of armed Ratkin why are the soldiers under orders to retreat from a strongly fortified defensive position, leaving the party to their doom. A shaman "driving" a horde of Ratkin? Attacking from north and south in a organized military fashion. Why? Who is training them. Is their only purpose to kill all humans, or just destroy Oskahold. Does the Knight known as Claemoss no longer serve the Baron having discovered an evil purpose.
Only the shadows know and keep their secrets close.
