Ok, I am actually meeting aliens 20 levels below me on insane, which is, on lv 43, an impressive feat. My spy torps them to death, one after another. Still have to meet a Heela alien though. If anybody is interested, the story is being created in Captain's diary And frankly put, I think that my stealth is so huge that even on impossible I wouldn't meet aliens 3 times mylevel (and my strength is at 9)

Glad you're finally finding them and killing them. I'm curious to see how it will work when you get the mega-high-level ones, which I'm pretty sure is inevitable, if you keep going after them. Best of luck, you are an alien hunter.

Thanks for the super informative thread! I was wondering if you guys ever hold out for a Templar Officer or Hydra. I have a Templar Warrior but I was considering going to deadly rogue rumors, firing him(her?), and hoping to luck out and find one of the rare Templars. Worth it?
Also, has anyone given much attention to the different Alien subspecies? I mean beyond captain types, Narv or Xeno, Hive or Hulk. The stuff talked about in rumors: Zorga, Terrox, etc. I'm trying to get some insight into the different strengths/weaknesses of each.
I've got caught on a shortage rumor run without weapons aboard and successfully retreated from some types. Other types seem impossible to retreat. Some torp rather than attempt to close range, etc.

There are not Xeno that can NOT be killed with Boarding. Some of them are very tough and have immunity to Weapon bonuses. You can still kill them with Boarding, however.

Excellent thread lurker! Exalt!
I used this strategy and it works so well...plus you have a captain monster against any foe.
I really think this is the overall best shell model to survive in any profession, as hunting for them or not the xeno is truly the one great fear for any Trader. I do tend to focus on MO at least for learning each difficulty, but am intrigued to see if with careful management toward other skills if this could be a successful Explorer, Star Trader...even Merchant. No matter your class, sooner or later you have to fight!

First of all...*Coughs* Javat scum. Second, probably. Forgot the stats, but it might work. I remember testing each ship out a while back and that one wasn't horrible at killing Zeno:P

I actually have a positive relationship with everyone right now, +150 being the lowest, so I can get any of the clan flagships right now

Pretty awesome to see people still using this build after 2.5 years. Brother Dervin continues to live on.

They are exceedingly rare. You just have to keep shopping. I would often find mine at Xenox. There are two De Waltos planets in the far bottom right. One of them has a very good and cheap shipyard. There's also the top rightmost Thulun planet. I feel like maybe I found them occasionally on one of the bottom left Song planets too. It takes a lot of shopping.
