How long does it take you to play through the Prologue in Alpha? slayernz just said "10 hours" in another thread. I would say 2-3 hours, but I play way too much. How long did it take you?

For the first time, because you are "taking it all in", and especially if you are a cautious player who runs back to camp after every couple of skirmishes, then it definitely takes a while. I'm going to start a new game and play my normal style to get to the bridge. I'll do 100% completion as part of the process.

Actually, that could be an enhancement request - on the save game, show the last time you played (which you do), and show the amount of time this game has been played (x hours, x minutes).

slayernz - we are reserving the space for the in-game date atm. Added #HOS-2242 for a real time clock for how long you have played.

Cool - v-low priority though ... I know how it is the day before a release, you don't want to throw new code in at the last second ... just add it to the story backlog

It took me approximately the same amount of time than slayernz to finish the Prologue (~ 10 h). I've done it on easy and exploring every bit of map I can. I also think that doing it again would take me less time since I would know what to expect.

slayernz - definitely, that's why it got an issue # beuns - thanks for the feedback! What you are all playing in the Alpha is the Prologue. Right at the gates of Oskahold, there will be the Episode 1 prompt.

I took me way more that 10 hours. My approach is very cautious and slow find good ambush spot, send the thief in to attract attention, draw as few as possible to the ambush, kill'em do it again. There are also times when the bad guys will ignore Tamlin. So I send big clomping Vraes in, he can run and take a punch. He falls into lead position of choke point.
All I know is there is endless play creating a different party by shifting talent, skill, and attribute focus. On that front barely scratched the surface. I did do a run through just to see the end at Oskahold. That was a few long sessions stretched over days. I've only played on Normal one time and did not finish, pretty much all the games have been at Easy.
As far as time goes, it maybe shorter once there are more potions, and rest camps than were in the Alpha, because I did spend allot of time hiking back to get recharged. Just took a beating in some battles or enough to know the next one would kill me. I remember the mines most of all, climbing out of three levels to reach town and get healed at the Inn, that was a time eater.
But once the game is released. I believe there will always be people who say it's too short no matter what you do. Sort of like crowing rights, to see who can be the first post that says, "I beat it in 2 hours on Nightmare, it was too easy", Bulls**t !
It's sort of like a really great movie. You missed the details, and really enjoyed it more by seeing it again, does that make sense?

Follow-up question - (2) did you ever finish the Prologue in one sitting?

Hahaha what?!? It's taken me 1 1/2 hours to get to the entrance of the caverns under Red Hill. I've just gone left to crack open the chest that has the new bow for the thief, and am on the verge of returning (to be cut off). I might have been able to get to this stage in an hour if I wasn't so deliberate in my actions. I know what to expect, but I'm a very cautious player Sub-question to the rest of the Alpha team ... has anyone gotten to the bridge scene in one sitting? If so, how long did it take?

Hope you don't mind me badgering you all with questions - we clearly play at wildly different speeds. I did write the game, build the maps, know all the tricks On normal, I can reach the bridge in under an hour. But that is completely bad data ... so, I'd love real answers from more alpha users! Thanks!

I'm definitely not an aggressive player, so fit in the "cautious and steady as you go" demographic ... It took me 20 minutes to get to Thurgrim, and that was blazing through all of the text dialogue.

I never tried to go to the caverns entrance in one sitting. I mostly play during my train trip to work (around 1h) like most phone player I think. So, no, multiple sitting to get out of prison.

fallen NO! I played multiple sessions of several hours each, and that was on easy level. Really conserved my SP potions for emergencies. I learned my lesson at the location where you liberate the blacksmith's supplies. Twenty six enemies to 4, are you kidding me? I have not discovered the "Always win formula", not sure I want to either, that would make me less likely to experiment with the character builds in the party. I trek back to the nearest rest camp anytime one of my characters hits 30 to 50% SP/HP, that takes up allot of time. So my speed is limited by the character with the shortest range. slayernz Agreed same style here. Besides I wouldn't knock back a $50 bottle of wine like a $7 dollar 6 pack. It is meant to be savored not bolted. The little green spiders may only have twenty hit points but I've found them to be very fast, accurate and attack in larger numbers than Giant spiders. Plus the flanking AI Cory and Andrew put in the game means those behind the Outlander are not guaranteed safety. slayernz Yes. But only by not exploring the whole of Red Hill area, Where is that Bow? I got the ring. I prefer to clear out a whole map before moving on, but get in deep and there is nowhere to rest so have to push for the bridge before we get too low on SP/HP, (which is the suspense that is supposed to be in this part of the game). After the Hunds I'm just glad to see that bridge before encountering any other hostiles. Best time? Probably around 2 to 3 hours. With the additional potions that will be added I hope to clear out and explore the whole of Red Hill. So yes, If I memorize where the most likely enemy encounter is, always follow that path, take the shortest route to the bridge, then it takes me about 2 to 3 hours.

Bow is north of the dungeon where you found the ring. You have to deal with some guards going in ... and then guards when you go back out again, but it's worth it because the bow is a good step up from the twig-and-twine that Tamilin uses at the beginning. "Light Bow" 2AP, relies on Dex 2 Accuracy 10-17 Damage at 6 Range
I know you can also find a new bow Flatbow 2AP, relies on Dex 3 Accuracy 10-17 Damage at 6 Range
I did find the hunters blade (Thief knife) somewhere near the beginning last time around but missed it this time.
