At nightmare lvl, (Damn forgot to get the Deathkin's lvl!)
Outlander ratios.
Str 9, Blades 8, Using Keen Arming Blade (3 accuracy, 3 parry) and 3 parry shield.
With Crushing Blow 5: Hits 2 times out of 9. Average dam of 20-30 hps per hit.
With Strike I: After six misses in a row I gave it up.
Did not attempt any other ability.
Thief ratios:
Dex 9, Bows 9, Using Cadet's Bow (4 accuracy)
With Aimed Shot 6: Hits 2 out of 4. Average dam of 25-35. Also a particularly heavy hit of 57 hps.
Mage ratios:
Sorcery 8
With, Firebolt 3: 2 out of 4. Average dam 15-20
My cleric also got 1 savage 33 damage hit in with Smiting Blow I, which was unexpected.

Faced another one when defeating the great shaman. Killed him in three blows and a few arrows and fireballs. Took only one turn.

Crushing Blow will probably get a bit of revision, and I'd guess it was just dice between CB and SS in that case since the AR is the same. Good build, tho.
You really should only play on Nightmare if you want to miss and die a lot =)

The meeting of the blades. With Vraes and Selen both using dexterity builds, it was fun watching the little guy go whole turns without landing a hit.

Your picture is scary. I like it better when I've got him surrounded. Did that Vraes live?

It's my first post, and since Deathkin are the first creatures that I need to talk about, I hope I get a pass for doing a bit of necro. Similar experience to rabidbite as far as first realizing what these things are capable of! Started out impressed by how far it could move in one turn...then was shocked that it still had not one, not two, but four hits available to it (before I had time to use Ethereal Anguish). OMG! Bye, Tamilin...*restart* bye, Kyera. Ugh. And the bit where hardly anyone can hit the dratted things didn't help. I've never played the whole game through; I love it but am just discovering it. Usually dungeon crawls interest me, but I didn't realize how much I like RPGs until I stumbled across Cyber Knights (TB---it's awesome and magnificent, and I'll be right back to it after getting a little more Heroes into my system!). First started out with HoS on Normal for a bit, then went back and started over as Hard. I guess I didn't realize I'm decent at tactics---just didn't know, maybe because there are fewer girl gamers I could have talked to about it, lol. But those Deathkins (yes, I had two in the Vermin Undertunnel level after first spotting the Shaman) caused my fourth and fifth deaths. And I've already done every side quest available to me (Nordhall troll, both the West Road caverns [incl Silver Cohort] while finding the lost caravan). Here, I had to run away, for the first time, before finishing a fight. Both Deathkins were finally down, but I had no potions left and everyone was down to scary levels on their blue and red meters. (No, I didn't manage to kill all the other Ratkin before taking out the Deathkin; next time!) Tamilin and Vraes each took out another Ratkin foe while on the run. And TB...wow, it's a PITA to flee combat, what with having to move everyone singly. I was relieved that at least hitting the tunnel to North Vault worked, and the game let me out of combat mode. (Returning to the level and having to do the same one-by-one thing to get within reaction range of the remaining three Ratkin was an even bigger PITA.) Agree with the poster above me; this encounter showed me some of the flaws in my team. I think they're fixable, so I won't start it over yet. I'm using the stock characters for now. Thanks for this board. I've learned so much! And I think I have something to add to the ep 1 map, so I'll go look for that post now.

natboopsie - welcome to the forum and thanks for the awesome post! The Deathkin encounter can definitely be a wake up call, and they require heavy use of Curses and Buffs to survive. It's especially bad that they have an army at their back! Hope you hang around the keep sharing your experiences!

natboopsie : welcome to the forum You should have tried one of those bast$#@ during alpha. They were overpowered at the time and meeting one of them meant death. Period. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that killing one is easy today (and we all know that it's not) but those bugged alpha deathkin were...unbelievable. I love CK too. I hope we could discuss it further on the CK forum. See you around. Ps : feel free to ask anything. There's always someone to answer
