Under skills for the warrior I see Blades, Hammers, and Polearms all read the same thing...
"Raising _______ increases both melee accuracy and melee defense."
Does this mean that my accuracy and defense in melee will suffer if I spread out my skill points among these three options?
Example: 5 - blades 5 - hammers 5 - polearms
Does this mean I have 5 melee / defense while holding each one of these items OR I have 15 melee / defense when holding any of these items.
Is there any advantage to focusing skill points on one thing?
THanks!

You get the melee attack/defense based on the best weapon you are holding (not stacked). This means if you are holding a 1H Sword and 1H Hammer, you only get the benefit of the weapon with the highest Attack (for attack) and highest Parry for defense.
If you are only equipped with a blade, you then only get the attack/defense of the blade.
So it does pay to specialize in one form of weaponry so you can get the best benefit from using that weapon. You can hold a secondary weapon, but treat it as a backup and don't invest as heavily into its skills points.

it really depends on how often you want to switch weapons.
if you are going with a single weapon type (blades, for example) then you should ignore the other skills.

Weapon skills like Blades increase "both melee accuracy and melee defense." I assume increases in melee accuracy improve your chances of hitting with weapons of that type. 1. What do increases in melee defense do? Increase chances of a parry only? 2. Does increasing weapons skills affect anything else? Like increasing damage.

tenbsmith - weapon skill affects only the dice that are in the roll To Hit and To Defend (in Melee). Weapon skill has no effect in ranged combat. We are still working on injecting these equations into the game UI, its planned and coming sometime soon.

A bit more info will be useful. For example, is Dodge for Ranged Combat what Parry is for Melee? In this case, Dexterity might only improve defense against Ranged Combat.

tenbsmith - yes, Parry is only used for melee combat defense (high strength dice). Dodge combat stat is used for both Melee and Ranged defense (in both cases, standard strength dice). Dexterity is directly used for mundane Ranged defense, such as arrows (standard strength dice). Knowledge is used in the case of magical ranged attacks (still standard dice strength). It's complicated. I don't really want to post it piecemeal on the boards - I will put my time into getting the data into the game!

I 110% agree with this. We're going to get it right this time, no compromises!
