i might be just hallucinating from sleep deprivation but i do think that last round of updates has had absolutely tremendous impact on performance -- and in a good way! Lots of testing do to. If you want to help me with my optimization settings, you can send me information about your CPU. This application will get your SoC and System info which you can put on this thread. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cpuid.cpu_z&hl=en

I cannot run a Google Play App on the Kindle. I have found some info to do it without rooting, a bit of work though.
So here it is;
Kindle Fire HD second gen
1920px x 1200px (supports 1080p "HD" resolution 1024 MB)
Dual Core TI OMAP4 (4470) HS, 1.5 GHz, with gpu Imagination PowerVR
OS Based on Android 4.0.3, API level 15
64 GB of Storage
Observation; I have noticed a steady drain on the battery even with charger plugged in during play.
After about 2 hours play battery power drops from 100% to 84%.
The Kindle HDX (my Xmas Present coming soon). Is supposed to use less power, funny because it upgrades to a quad core.

samsung exynos 4210 1.20GHz processor, arm cortex-A9, 2 cores, 120MHz-1.20GHz GT-I9100, android 4.2.2, kernel 3.0.64-CM-g9c2e2bc screen 480x800, 240dpi 790MB RAM, 1.97GB internal storage
With the latest release (1.1.17) my battery charges very slowly while playing, definitely an improvement over previous versions where it would slowly drain.

1.1.19 should offer around a 30-60% overall improvement =)
