Periodically I think I've changed the selected character but, due the vicissitudes of touch screens and big fingers, I haven't. This can lead to me moving the wrong character. For example, recently I mistakenly moved the wizard into melee because I hadn't change to the Outlander as I thought (I tapped in that area but it didn't take).
One solution would be to put some sort of halo around the currently selected character. This would be redundant with the picture in the lower-left corner of the screen, but would help while in battle when I focus on center of the screen.

Thanks, we will play around with some light effects, maybe something subtle would do the trick. Based on the Heroes visual design, we don't want to add any selector rings, etc.

I can say, that I've had the same problem and some other clue might help avoid that. Maybe lighting the ground around the selected character?

Halo was the wrong term, so I changed the title to use 'highlight'.
Lurker is describing the sort of thing of which I was thinking. Any sort of subtle but perceptible highlight would do the trick.
