And James Bond's illustrious career came to an abrupt end in the year 308.15 AE, at the hands of a level 38 House Thulun Merchant and level 88 Steel Song Bounty Hunter.
In his brand new, fully upgraded Titan Cruiser, after a long drawn out duel, the impolaccable, impossibly strong merchant flying a Mega Freighter reduced the hull of the Titan Cruiser to 10, its armor to 0, its engines to 12, its sails to 10, and its crew to 312, before James finally threw in the towel and gave up his boarding attempts.
James himself had his health reduced to 5, while the merchant's measley ship was barely damaged. All this, despite the fact that the text at the bottom of the screen always said that his boarding party succeeded and caused 10 damage every round.
Immediately after, the ship was attacked by the Bounty Hunter in a Vegas Class. With the severely weakened hull and engines, James was a sitting duck, and was blown out of the sky in mere moments.
This just cements the fact in my mind that boarding is seriously dangerous, and ranks just below ramming as a last ditch combat tactic.
Check out the set up that I had going:
James Bond
Cadar Spy
Level: 51
Stats
Charisma: 10
Wisdom: 25
Quickness: 65
Strength: 20
Skills
Explorer: 1
Pilot: 65
Negotiate: 1
Tactics: 25
Stealth: 65
Warrior: 20
Intimidate: 10
First Officer: Military Officer
Second Officer: Veteran
Third Officer: Mechanic
Ship
Titan Cruiser
Upgrades: Reinforced Prow (+1), Leviathan System (Type III), Battleship Architecture (+20/+30%), Titan Engines (+5), Torpedo Control Pods (+20%)
Hull: 43
Armor: 21
Engines: 41
Sails: 36
Crew: 416?
Hold: 99 (had 30-50 weapons, 1 artifact, 1 crystal, 1 metal, +-20 water)
Guns: 24
Torps: 42
Speed: Slow
Agility: Low
So, I had 400+ crew, bonuses from a stock of weapons, bonuses to boarding from my reinforced prow upgrade, bonuses to boarding from my leviathan system upgrade, bonuses to resist a board from my battleship upgrade, bonuses to all combat actions at medium and lower range from my titan engine upgrades, bonuses in space combat from my veteran officer, bonuses to boarding actions from my military officer, 20 warrior, 25 tactics, 10 intimidate...why the heck did a merchant in a crappy ship like that beat the crap out of my captain and my crew?
