I know I probably misspelled the names, but thats the way they're written in the old papers we have found doing research.

Question: Why did they leave (And when?) Based on the way ntsheep goes on about it I'd guess they left to get the great service on Amtrak trains.

Costs about as much as an air ticket, and you get meals, but... really? You want to spend 30 hours+ going from NM to IL??? If it costs as much as an air ticket.. Why you didn't chose that one? I mean.... ... you know? Sent from my broken HTC Desire C using proboards. Anyone's got a fan?

Yes, Amtrak is better than in the 80s. I have traveled from Albuquerque to Chicago by Amtrak. It's not worth it unless you WANT to see the country through a window. Costs about as much as an air ticket, and you get meals, but... really? You want to spend 30 hours+ going from NM to IL??? My mom did that several years ago to visit some family out in California. Stop by St Louis sometime and we can chat in person. The station here is called "Gateway Station" I can't go there without laughing because that is the name of the space station in the movie "Aliens", one of my favorite movies.

The goofballs at Ellis Island had a habit of spelling things the way they thought it should be or outright changing a family name.

Ah. Then, it can't be due to Hitler. Not if they didn't knew about it... But it'd be quite mysterious IF it had to do something with it... Did your grand.. ... ... parents know about Hitlers plan, before he was born? Sent from my broken HTC Desire C using proboards. Anyone's got a fan?

guys, you are SERIOUSLY off the track ... btw: 1850 sounds like problems with the Restauration-era. perhaps they wanted to go to place with more democracy. USA had it back then, but Würtemberg as well as Saxony (there was no Germany until 1871) were not so strong into that concept. but how knows nowadays. if you don't have any diearies, it's just wild guessing.

scared, how can we be off track talking about trains? They travel on tracks. Going off track on this forum is just SOP for most of us
