Have you gone LONG DISTANCES on Amtrak? Never more than a few hour trip, but the new trains are so freaking comfortable. Not like the ones I rode as a kid. |

No problem, lol. And: European Train Service, one of the best? Not for Germany. Not for the goddamn Deutsche Bahn. No, Sir. Although, when I've been a kid, I were allowed to drive in 1st class thanks to my pass (There, I've had... spastic. Sometimes. Wasn't funny at all... So I were given a pass that showed everybody I've got it. Allowed me to drive anything without paying at all. Same for one of my parents, thanks to a special Letter in said pass.) Anyways, once I rode in an ICE 3, you can look into the drivers cabin. And that's not even the best thing.. I've been allowed to come inside that cabin.  I tell you, THAT was truly awesome. No wonder they let cars drive so fast over there then if the trains are that slow. Perhaps that's why my family left and came to America.

My family came from Moglingen Wuerttemburg. Plus some from Lippersdorf Saxony.
Family names were Staehle, Huebler. (had to open up my family tree files real quick)

Yes, Amtrak is better than in the 80s.
I have traveled from Albuquerque to Chicago by Amtrak.
It's not worth it unless you WANT to see the country through a window. Costs about as much as an air ticket, and you get meals, but... really? You want to spend 30 hours+ going from NM to IL???
