I just updated to version 4.5.1. I had saved four previous games in the hopes that I would still be able to get the award unlocks, such as my Zealot with -200 or more with every faction to get Independent Trader. As I still can't get the awards with these ones, I figured I'm going to have to start a new game to earn these unlocks, so I wanted to delete the games that I was saving for this purpose. That is no longer an option. I used to be able to delete saves by selecting a captain from the Roster menu, but now there is no apparent way to remove a saved game.

What OS version and device are you on?
It should still work -- I'm having trouble reproducing it.
In v4.5.1 I am getting positive confirmation from players, and my own testing, that all the Reputation awards and unlocks are now firing correctly. I was able to get the Awards, and several others have reported success as well. Maybe starting a new game will help, but I am not sure why it would.

Well, that stinks. I have to submit another update to fix it.
You are on an iPhone/iPod on iOS 6?

Nerd Question: Why you didn't update yet? Or is your device too old? (iPhone 4 is max. required to get 7)

The iPod Touch 4th Generation is one of the reasons why we support iOS 6.x for both HoS and ST.

Sorry to be a pest, but has this fallen through the cracks? I haven't played in about two months because I don't want a huge list of saves to scroll through that I cannot delete, and I also don't have the unlocks for Independent Captain nor Blackheart despite having met the requirements.
Also on Elite v4.5.1 on an iPod Touch 4th Gen with iOS v6.1.5, Strength DOES contribute to rank progression. I confirmed this multiple times.

1. Delete saves will be fixed in the next release.
2. Independent Captain and Blackheart were both fixed in the last release, many confirmations have come in =)
3. The games use some rules that are not identical -- there is a package of changes in iOS to support that level equation
