So you've been battling a while, and clocked up an impressive amount of gold. You frequented the armory and bought out the best of the best gear. That was back when you were level 8. now you're level 12 or 13 and you're still using the same gear. you've got thousands of coins in your pocket (heeeeaaavy) and nothing much to spend it on.
It would be great if, every few character levels the armory suddenly got new stocks of slightly better gear. You should always have something that is worth saving up for - just out of reach of your current budget, and your gear should definitely improve as you level up. The beasties you are dealing to have gotten tougher, and dealing out more pain than the ones before them, so it's only fair that your local armorer can start supplying better weapons/shields/armor/bows/lunch choices.
... okay, that's enough for now - I'm going back into the game (hence my lack of presence on the forum since 1.2.1 ......... )

When the story drives it, certainly. You played the Alpha, so you saw that effect in action with the smith in Granthorn.
However, in much of Heroes of Steel that advancement of gear, and mix of price and value, will be determined by your choices navigating the non-linear world.
Oskahold is a fixed set of gear (with some variation relative to armor) on purpose.

I've got all of the best gear (in fact, have doubled up in a few cases just because I like matching sets ) Cash on hand is 9277g I'm carrying the Chaplain's heavy mace (28-42dam) and Captain Lukai's Blade (32-48 dam) but they aren't equipped because I have better. Tamilin wants a better bow - she's decided she isn't a Cadet any longer and is embarrassed to have the Cadet's Bow as her weapon of choice. Oh ... and I'm really only just at the beginning of Act 1 part 2 (all characters are currently level 12, battling level 13 creatures)

slayernz - I can see the argument that the smith could upgrade his weapon selection along with his armor selection. I think two things - you probably bought all that gear before the price increase ... all armor and weapons have roughly doubled up price at some point in the last two weeks. Second, when you reach Riven Field, you'll have something so spend that coin on. Still, you may end up with some left over gold. What is your difficulty? That's a big one, as you are supposed to have cash on hand if you are playing on lower difficulties.

slayernz, you can get a better bow for Tamilin in one of the farm halls. But yes you definitely need to hustle your butt over to Riven Field.

Funny, I found the Recurve Bow (15-40 damage) shortly after I posted my message (close to the excavation site), and then found an Oxenbone Bow (16-48 damage) in the very next chest! Tami's very happy and busy poking the eyes out of lizards and soldiers alike.

So figure an average weight- say a 1oz American Eagle coin 16oz (a pound) for ten coins. 9277oz divided by 16oz per pound is about 580lb.
Hope you have a few pack mules, bro.

Unfortunately all horses and mules were left / lost on the surface at the time of the Shattering. Wagons are human or dog-pulled.

Pack goats & goats for pulling small carts should be going on unless the population for meat only eats....rabbit & chicken? For that matter smaller breed donkeys should be viable I think. Very rare & earmarked for agricultural use, unless slavery's part of the backstory, otherwise how do those wagons we see decorating the area get there?

Maybe it's not 10k individual coins. Maybe there are Ratkin bankers that are providing higher denomination coins in the background as you go through the tunnels: "Excuse me, Mr. Shaman, do you have change for a 10,000?"

Slavery is certainly occurring, depending on your location in the Underdeep.

fallen, the main game I am playing is on Normal difficulty This is where the team has clocked up the 9.2k coinage. I've got three other teams playing with different difficulties (none playing Nightmare though). I don't buy potions although have been quaffing them on a regular basis, and as I am cautious, I walk back to camps on a very regular basis. That keeps consumption of potions down significantly.
