So exactly what kind of bonus does the array give a B.H.? It ought to be pretty significant as you've got to pass on the Omni-Stealth for it.

I was never able to discover any bonus for a bounty hunter when I had one trying out the Predator Tracking Array.
I've chalked it up as "Grand for a non-military/bounty-hunter captain who wants to bounty hunt, not so great for those with tracking abilities baked-in to their class." So my military officers and bounty hunters won't get it, and usually put the omni in instead. But my pirate, Silla Cadar, is desperately hunting for one since she likes bounty hunting and doesn't have the class ability.
(Alas, poor Silla, the only rumor I've found in years was for an Indep planet, so no tracking array there any more than anywhere else.)

So do you need the Predator Array if you're a Bounty Hunter? I think it is completely redundant and a waste of Upgrade space. If you're a Bounty Hunter or Military Office, you already have the ability, and don't need the upgrade.

Spy and Smuggler. I usually go for a defensively ship with good hold. That way I can hold my own and get easy money.

The merchant is the easiest in my opinion. I am friendly with all factions and have trade permits and death warrants with all of them. I am also a immortal hero with a few. I just follow rumors, avoid trade embargos and explore if you can't do anything else. I have a good ship and 1 million. I'm pretty comfortable!

i like playing as an explorer, and i explore and deliver to wherever i have a trade permit. if i dont have a trade permit with a place without a trade embargo, i work for the independents. The only threat i find is surviving pirate encounters. Id love to play like this tho, visit all the bases when ive built up enough of a bank balance to update my market info tab, and then when i have price lits for everywhere in the system, id play as a merchant. I find following merchant rumours to be unreliable, as by the time ive arrived the surplus/shortage is always gone if i had complete market info, i could at least recuperate something from buying and selling the normal way if the rumour expires before i make it.

Picking out rumors ... you have to really be realistic about how many turns it will take you to reach the rumor.
I prefer Surplus over Shortage, myself. I like to find core planets with a surplus and unload into a stash. Best places a hybrid Urban Zone/ Wilderness planets so you can pop back and sort between Exchange and Stash in only 2 turns.

So far I have definitely had the easiest time with an explorer (if you count losing innumerable hands, eyes, and legs and thousands of crewmembers as being easy). I'm above 150 rep with everyone and over 300 with a couple houses. I only wish I had started on crazy instead of hard. Trade alliances are amazing, but the embargoes are killer!

For imposible i like to start with Zealot for the simple fact that he starts with a trade permit and 4 weapons to pawn for gas money however I play all class's prety much the same way.. Start off as a smugglar get paid buy a pimp ship, advance to hunting bountys get paid buy a bigger pimp ship, advance to spying&millatary operations aka blockaids.get paid buy one of my 3 favorite ships (Slayerz or one of 2 Obliterators.) Now advance to pirate and take on the galaxy alians beware!!!! I am now all but invincible on chalenging demanding hard and crazy my insane capt is on the millatary/spy stage of development and my imposible capts are all dead...

I try a variety of classes, but unless it's a Pirate I end up dead pretty quickly.

Bounty Hunter. It gives me the ability to never ever fail capture or assassinate mission, and starts with.6 tactics so I can do surveilence and blockade missions shortly after starting. Also, I don't need to invest in ngociate or explorer as I'm not a merchant or smuggler, so I can invest in combat-only traits, giving me an advantage when fighting. Btw, anyone know how much of a discount you get with promotions when you start as a military officer? I haven't really noticed that much a difference, if there is one.

20.0% discount for military officers.
Zealot gets 80% discount for home faction, 176% cost for non-home faction.
