I just got my Selen party to the Gatehouse. I'd basically been thinking about what I wanted for this fight the whole play-through. The fight went sooo much better than my first time around. I'd almost say it was easy. fallen, Cory Trese, did you guys reduce the difficulty of that fight or did I just get that much better of a spawn. My party was also much more ready for it too. I have to say, with Selen, I loved having another character who can stand her own in melee. She basically marched up the bridge and killed everyone up there on her own. She's started calling those Orcin "Warboytoys." With dodge of 18 Geraux never hit Vraes once. It was a pretty crushing defeat for his little strategy. Difficulty was brutal both times.

Yeah, we'll see. I'll probably wait till you come out with a new character to start another party. I'm having a lot of fun with the group I've got now. I'm a little afraid that NM just won't be fun. There's nothing I hate more than those battles with the Underdeep Beetles when neither side is doing much damage and it just turns into this huge slog fest waiting until you can finally get in enough hits and wear them down. I don't look forward to that on NM.

I'll be saying "No" when I see him soon. The first group said "Yes"

contributor - just as a confirmation, we did not reduce the difficulty of that fight in an update.

Ok, I did say "No" and there are no immediate consequences. It does change some of the other dialogue though. One note though ( fallen, Cory Trese) if you say "No" the dialogue box choice remains and you can go back and make the choice again. I don't know what would happen if you said "No" and "Yes". Anyways, I don't think that's supposed to be there. Also all of my fights went more easily this time, except for the Baron. 3 or 4 times he nuked my characters with like 250 damage twice in the same turn. Even though they were full health at the start of the turn they just died immediately. I went from 2 restarts to like 6 now. That never happened on the first play through. Is he supposed to be able to do that? Max 340 damage and the ability to land it twice in a turn is a little insane and frustrating, because I don't think I could have done anything to stop that from happening. He should only be able to do that once a turn.

contributor - 1) fixed the repetitive choice for Yes / No for the next release. It will have more meaningful impact in E2. 2) The Baron is walloping if you don't fight him correctly. We are working on better description section in the monster details box that would help with this (hint, he is a wide variety of magical damage types, so having strong Resistance is critical to surviving that kind of damage). Also, giving him multiple possible targets helps. 3) found the bug that was letting him roll insanely high damage sometimes and fixed for next.

So there was a bug? What type of damage is he supposed to be rolling? He was consistently rolling around 250 for me and once even did 300 something. My characters didn't have particularly high resistance because magical attacks don't seem to be that big of a deal in the first episode. They did find some cloaks (Hellborn?) that might have helped if they knew to put them on before the battle. I guess we could figure out that if the Magus is there we're going to be fighting magic like never before. But something from Vincent "I've heard the Baron is a powerful mage in his own right... We might consider what equipment would give us the best protection..." would really help.

contributor - the bug involved the entire balance on his monster, so we will have to see when we get it completely fixed and re-tested. Yes, giving a warning up front by your magical character sounds like a good idea, though the Baron was never a powerful magician until Lazzon gifted him with powers. A warning would help a lot. Haha, don't sell that Resistance gear ... you're going to want it for E2.
