Is there any meathod to the names of the ships in star dock? Like, is there a common theme shared by all ''Jammers?'' Are ''Runners'' good smuggling ships and ''Liners'' good Merchants? Just wondering because im trying to find good ship for diferent playstyles that i am trying out.

All ships that are runners are good smugglers. Pirate ships are good at, well pirating. Jammers, I am not sure. Lifters and Liners are merchant ships.

The names are all determined by an equation that ranks them on the 22 internal values.
Those are used to determine the class name and the price.

Jammer is a middle of the road ship designation, having either maneuverability or speed, moderate weaponry and heavy armor. Most of them are lightly Crewed and have good Orbital Fuel econ.

For combat, cruisers are generally the best ships. The highest end ships for combat are almost all exclusively cruiser ships and a few being carriers, frigates and battlecruisers.
For trade (high holds and good wc), cutters, freighters, liners and lifters are good. The biggest cargo ships without big hull and crew are almost all exclusively these ships Classes and shuttles I've noticed generally aren't as good for combat.
Also, shuttles, cruisers, carriers, battlecruisers and frigates are flown by military officers, classes by bounties, lifters, liners, freighters and cutters by merchants and smugglers and pirates and darks by pirates.

X Class is traditionally a Bounty Hunter ship with a built that's a decent hybrid between long range combat and surveillance. Usually fast and always carrying some torps.
