One of the guys on our forum recommended this app and I made the mistake of downloading it . Now I find myself playing it every spare moment I can. It does not play like an app to me, more like on of the old BBS MUDs I used to play. Well designed and as addictive as all get out. My only problem with it is moved up to challenging and am dying frequently. So I will be reading these forums for tips LOL. Great Job.

It is kind of crazy addictive isn't it?
Gets worse once you get more skill at it and are playing on the higher levels. You'll die a lot more, but if you're the sort to get addicted to this game that probably won't bother you much.

I played the lower lvls for about 5 weeks to get the hang of it. Then moved to insane. Now all i play is insane. So far ive unlocked ships of honor and ships of power on this lvl as well as dark nemisis awards. It is highly addictive and in going for the lvl 20 in the tempus. Im going to try for lvl 50 in my tempus as well. See how i go with Capn Shrapnel this time round as pirate.

I'm trying the jump from Crazy to Impossible and it's quite a gap to bridge. Maybe I need to dial it back to Insane first...

widowmaker -- Really glad you're enjoying my game! May it provide you hours of entertainment and spark grand space sagas. My current Captain, "Vega Thulun CCLXXV" is surviving on Impossible but I almost don't want to play him. I'll play like 60 turns and run back to Hard or Crazy for stress relief. BUt CCLXXV is always in the back of my mind ... he's the one that will make it, unlike the hundreds of Thulun star masters before him.

My current Impossible character is Captain Morgan, a level 17 Pirate. I have to admit that between work and a bunch of family stuff, I haven't been playing as much lately. But, at level 17, I already have gotten to the smooth groove on Morgan and almost want to start over with another character. I really enjoy the gritty challenge of making it through the first few levels and new ships on Impossible.

I'm trying out a Bounty Hunter, but I think I have too many smuggler's habits. I managed to stumble and ram my way into a Blade Class with no upgrades. "Out of torps, out of ammo, out of fuel and out of cash....might as well press the 'another word for freedom' button." I finally managed to get all my repairs done, but I feel like I'm not making progress and I'm desperate to befriend another faction, but I keep chapping everybody but the Cadar, even my own fabulous Thulun boys are more than a little uneasy with me.

After reading some of the suggestions on this forum I am now running from most encounters and taking only those contracts that are porting people from one spot to the next.
I was dying between 500 - 600 turns on challenging and could not get past that hurdle so I decided what the Hey and moved to Hard.
I am a Captain with De Valtos, and managed to capture a ship with Speed: Fast, Agility: Quick
I am bumping up Quickness,Tactics,Stealth and Pilot.
I am now dreading the day I run into someone I cannot outrun and get away from. No saved game feature that I have seen so once dead you are dead.

Widowmaker, keep your ear to the ground for shortage rumors. Even a Military Officer or Pirate, (same thing really) can benefit hugely from selling 20 tons of Spice bought at normal rates and sold at shortage rates.

Trying to keep on eye on the market, although it seems as time progresses the shortages/surplus are almost non existent compared to the other messages. Of Course this is my first run through on Demanding.
My Captain died quickly this afternoon, found someone he could not outrun.
Grand Master Captain Level 15 with 500K credits
Thinking I should have spent more on the Hull and Armor.

You get more rumors when you are on bigger (higher rating) planets. Also, if you seed the exchange with records, you also get more rumors.

Nearly lost Capn Shrapnel at lvl 22 to a lvl 40 bounty. Realized after the first boarding attempt i had failed to heal his sorry behind and was in the fight at 6 health. Hulled the bounty with some major spray of barrage gun, first at engines, then deck, board, gun, gun, engine, deck, engine, deck n so on. Hobbled back to port on 1 health. I need a doc onboard my poor Shrapinator(tempus)

Nice Boeu! Level 25 is a heck of a run -- do you know how many turns it was to get there?
