I just about pulled the trigger to purchase the game on Desura... But support says Windows only. Will there be a Mac version?

hollowpoints - we are working our way around to all of the platforms, but each one takes time and investment. We do anticipate that there will eventually be a Mac OS version, but no ETA.

Any plans to support Linux?

It's possible but even lower on the list than Mac OS. With just two of us, we have to really put our energy where it will help us be successful. If we get Greenlit on Steam, we have committed to delivering a Linux build of the game, so we hope you will give us a Yes vote!

shallowthought - it's been running great on my Windows Laptop. Not sure about a Windows VM on a Mac? You'd have to give it a shot and let us know.

So I am using OSX 10.8.5 + Virtual Box - Win 7 Pro 64bit VM I installed Desura and tried to launch Heros of steel. I get an error message that says "The Program can't start....." see screen shot. The .dll its complaining about is in my c:\windows\system32\ folder so I don't know what the problem is. EDIT: I do have the 2012 C++ redistributable installed on this machine already. Which according to google should fix this issue. Attachments:

hollowpoints - did you do the stand-alone package or the branch install from Desura? I.e. were you given a ZIP and you did some stuff, or Desura's client did everything?

I tired installing the 2013 version (you linked) and no change.
Found the issue! Heros of Steel is 32bit... i needed the 32bit package. My os is 64bit, so I was installing the 64bit packages.
Now that 32bit is installed Its working.

Confirmed to be working on MacOS X 10.8.5 (Hackintosh) using VirtualBox 4.2.12, and Running under a Windows 764Bit VM. I installed Desura, and then installed HOS from their web app. To get it to launch I had to install the 32bit version of this Microsoft package (even though I have a 64bit OS). www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/confirmation.aspx?id=30679

hollowpoints - that makes a lot of sense. Have fun! We have now configured Desura to distribute that package automatically.
