Greetings and Salivations fellow star traders, pirates and other star villains. I thought this forum was somewhat lacking in a area for new members to say howdy! Introduce themselves, break the ice. I have a feeling most members stay silent until they have a question to ask and it all goes down hill from there so here goes: My name is Don, I am from Northwest Arkansas, but I am more likely to be anywhere else as i am an over the road trucker. I love workin on old cars, i own a 68 Dodge Dart, and computer games, mostly simulators and strategy. Currently the best form of entertainment for me while on the road is these forums. You guys are hilarious (and gals if there be some here, hard to say) I am glad I found STRPG and these forums. Takes the stress of dodging 4wheelers away with every laugh on here. Now its anyone else's turn who is willing.

Hi, my name is Stefan, and I am a Pirate.
Piracy has been in my blood, along with copious amounts of rum, for as long as I can remember.
I live in Texas, recently got married to a beautiful and buxom young blond. I now have 2 step-sons, with my first baby on the way this fall.
I like long walks on the beach, over the corpses of my enemies, in pursuit of booty. I like to act like I know what I am talking about, but I am actually a complete idiot.

I'm Absi, and I'm a hot, young, just-18, girl with huge . . . tracts of land. I like pasty-white, slightly overweight, middle-aged men with low social skills, and role-playing games. In my spare time I like to pour marshmallow fluff over myself and dance naked in the rain.
(Which is to say I'm a slightly fat, middle-aged guy, just like every other "hot young thing" on "teh intarwebz". Oh, I do like role-playing games though, that part's true, but the bit about marshmallow fluff . . .. totally a lie.)

Well hello there Absi. It certainly is nice to make your acquaintance...... What? Dammit, not again. That's the fifth time this week. My name is Ionel, I'm a level 51 space captain who's been diagnosed with schizophrenia. No your not. Shut up it's my turn to speak. Guys guys guys can we just stop the fighting for once. Fine! Yeah ok! Ok where was I, right, I live in New Jersey and work and go to school along with taking improv classes. I also like to scuba dive, and any water activity really.

Oooh, scuba.
That's on my list.
List of things to do before I die: (in no particular order) Hang-glide skydive scuba-dive mountain-climb (*ulp!* For a guy scared of heights this isn't the brightest, but there it is)

I am known by many names:
Raptus Belarus, Titan Immortal of the Cadar Royal Naval Fleet Big-Beard the Pirate Stu McGruffins, Space Explorer Extraordiare Nicholas, the disgruntled and incredibly bored Boeing 787 mechanic
That last one is the one most know me as. I prefer Nick, but I'll be damned if they listen.
Yes, I work for Boeing, which would be cool if I wasn't stuck on this chaotic space storm called the 787 "Dreamliner" program. We get parts of the planes from all over the world, and we're supposed to slap these bad boys together and make 'em fly. Too bad the quality of product we receive here in Everett, Washington is just poor beyond imagination.
When I'm not forced to live at work, I enjoy playing all manner of PC games(used to play consoles as well, but the last couple generations have turned me off from that). STRPG is atually the first of it's kind that I have ever enjoyed, even though I can't really think of any games that quite compare to it in playstyle to begin with.
I've also got a wife and 3 kids - two step-sons and a daugther with my wife - 5 cats, 3 guinea pigs, 2 firebelly toads, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Stu here. I had to cut down the pear tree to make room. Of course, everyone knows that pears are evil when they are really ripe because man do they go splat when you throw them at your enemies. Probably reason #2 for taking out the tree. Yes, your honor, I complied with your ruling.
Okay, so I too am a Cadar with a penchant for destroying all but the most innocent Steel Song ships. Yes, there are actually one or two out there. Of course, I've only discovered that after I've sifted through the wreckage of their ships and found pages of the Wheel of Time series (you know that even Brendan Sanderson couldn't finish it and by his passing, it was up to book 47 (Rand's son's cousin-in-law borrowed Callandor to trim a hedge and somehow created a new canyon in Andor).
By day (in this haze called real life) I stalk the corridors of a large software company trying my hardest to have at least some semblance of credibility with the development engineers. "What, you're product management? We spurn you like we spurn a rabid dog."
See now I'm thinking about Sebastian rolling down the highway and reading the forum. Now do you have a text to audio voice reading out this inane banter, or do you have some app that shows a live-feed of the view in front of your truck in a window above the text content? Now that would be awesome - probably illegal in 58 states, (yes, some non US states would be included here too). Surprisingly, not in Texas though because let's face it, Texans are all a bunch of cowboys.

Hi All, my real name is Shane and I live with my wife and 2 <2 year old kids in South Carolina. I'm a Geologist and mostly do environmental consulting work since I can't stay away from home for the weeks required for SC gold exploration jobs. I love Star Trek, scifi in general and PC gaming and have only found a few really great Droid games of which Star Traders is probably tied for best.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have to commute 60 each way to get to and from work every day. That rounds out to be about 4 hours total, considering traffic and alll. The part that sucks the most is that, the city I actually live, there is a Boeing plant nearby. In fact, there's also a plant in the next town over where they build the 737. But do I get to work there? NOOOOOOOOO! I get to drive 120 miles round trip. Bastards...

I try to keep the forum reading to just when i am parked... i would lie if i said i never operated STRPG while rolling *cough* If i vould finger out how to make the evo 4g speak to me...life would be perfect... nearly so.
Have you considered moving closer to work or putting in a transfer? When I was a wee lad my father worked at lockheed /rockwell/ plant52 in socal, i shall never forget visiting the assembly line for the b1 lancer. Super groovy stuff, wanna trade jobs? I have a 5 feet commute from bed to the driver seat. ;-)

Surely Boeing should fly you back and forth Don't forget, the advanced tech that you are helping assemble into a 787 today will no doubt turn into an ancient artifact, carried around in the holds of starships for trade purposes. "You want this 787 turbine? I'll trade you 4 hatters fancy and that luxury rations package - the one that has faded branding reading 'Twinky'. It's got this great 'Best before: 05-03-1994', which is fine because it's only 142AE".

As soon as all the bugs are worked out on this crazy program, I think things will be really good. But right now, oh boy is it a massive pain in the neck....and head, shoulders, back, feet, captain's quarters, likely other areas as well. Unfortunately, the number of mechanics they want on the program once it's stabilized and what we have right now are vastly different. Makes me kind of scared for my job once things smooth out.
Those turbines would definitely make some good artifacts, especially since we don't have enough for all the planes that are sitting out on the flightline half-finished. You'll need to get ahold of Rolls-Royce and GM for those bad-boys.

My turn. My name is Pat. I'm a 39 year old disabled Army vet, guitar player, PC tech, cook, and Sci-fi junkie. I live with my lovely wife, our daughter, and a cat. We are expecting another in January. I primarily play Sword of the Stars, and World of Warcraft on the PC, and STRPG and Galcon on the Android. Sometimes on the weekends I'll dig out the old D&D books, and we do some old school gaming!
