I have yet to try for those. I'm still unlocking ship upgrades and classes. At least I got all of my starter ships unlocked finally.

What exqctly is the honor and power ships? Ships u can buy... ships that are flying around the quadrant? Or ships you can start with? Im not sure how hard i want to try for them

They are rank ships you can buy. The honor ships are high class clan ships. And the power ships are high class syndicate ships. Each faction gets 1 of its style ship. I.E. "Honor of Thulun" is House Thulun's honor ship and "Pride of Cadar" is Cadar's power ship. They all really suck except for "Honor of Thulun" which is one of the most powerful speed ships and has a hold of 70. I think the only fast ship that beats it is Royal Class. The rest of the ships are dreadful and are flying death traps. I put in so much effort to get those awards and now I kind if feel ripped off. Don't get me wrong, I say complete the clan side of it because the Thulun ship is a beast and it's a rank ship so you can find it anywhere but the syndicate ships all suck. I'm trying to get Honor ships 2 now by completing the contract award. 20 completed, 5 declined, 1 failed... so far so good.

Too bad I enjoy blowing up Thulun ships more than I do working for them. Even when Cadar allies with them(which is rare indeed), I still blow them up. The loss of rep is easily fixed the licensed goods I confiscate from their holds.

I'm with you. I felt all embarrassed flying around in it. I was surprised that the "Pride of Cadar" was such a bad ship. They are supposed to have the best ships. I feel back at home in my new Cadar Royal Class ship (Royal Ships are generic but I bought mine at a Cadar starport.

This is all pretty much on purpose. It goes back to the original write up on the Houses and Javat Thulun's recovery of one of the great shipyard construction orbits during the early diaspora

@cory: Do you have the actually backstory/history of the galaxy and the houses/syndicates written up somewhere? It'd be neat to read some of that stuff sometime.

There is a backstory / history that Andrew and I spent several months developing -- however, the intent was to build it as a pen and paper RPG. The fact it was pirated for ST RPG was done in the days when ST was a private not-for-release project.
To that end, we have hopes that we will make a better use of this back/fore story for the Star Traders Franchise.
I am struggling a little with how to share it because right now it is mostly bullet lists and quotes, documents written from the perspective of the PC/NPC
