I've determined that I want to play this game on my PC. Are there any drawbacks or advantages to purchasing from one source or another? For instance Google Play updates the game very quickly from release by TB to being available for download. Are there any such delays between sources for PC? What is the time table for updates to hit a PC version typically?

Outsider - a couple of thoughts: 1) Desura gives you a client, which you may or may not decide to use. You can download a ZIP file instead. 1a) You download a ZIP file from IndieGameStand.com. 2) Desura takes 3-5 days to approve an update. It tells you about updates and we enter a change log. 2b) IndieGameStand updates faster, still a matter of 1-3 days though. IGS does not seem to have a way to tell you about updates. We stuff our change log in the description.

fallenI had already purchased from Desura. So I missed seeing the IndieGameStand.com announcement, didn't even know the site existed. The updates are coming out fast and they are big improvements and alterations. With a new laptop and 17" screen I prefer the PC version. But I spend most of my time on the Kindle to get quicker updates. If I purchase the IndieGameStand version to get quicker updates. Can you think of any conflicts the Desura installation will cause. Do you have any tips for uninstalling the Desura version then installing the IndieGameStand version? I don't intend to play both copies from Desura and indie. I don't bemoan the extra cost. If I can get quicker updates I'm more than happy to toss Desura over the side, and purchase another copy from indie until Steam gets it's butt in gear and green lights HoS

John Robinson - good question. Did you install the "Full ZIP" from Desura or are you running the game through the Desura client? Let me watch it more closely and track how quickly they are doing updates. I guess, looking at it ... its slow. We have been waiting 8 days to get an approval for 2.0.9, which will put us 5 days behind

fallenIt's 9 PM so Ill keep it short deal with it tommorow. The last time Desura successfully updated was v2.0,5. Today it showed an update had occurred three days ago. The version number was not listed. That didn't matter anyway because it failed to install the update. The interface for Desura has been difficult to use. So to heck with it. I had originally installed the client and full zip. Now I wanted to be rid of it. So I uninstalled the client which also uninstalled HoS. Created an account on indie. purchased HoS. Downloaded zip file. Double clicked zip it wanted to know if I wanted to use regular file manager or some 7-zip product I've never heard of. I used file manager files unziped into download HoS folder. No installer started up. So I located the .exe and double clicked to start it. HoS started up as 2.0.7 and would not go full screen nor could you hear the intro music or intro screens. At this point I don't know what is expected of me to enjoy the PC version. So I plan on asking for your help tomorrow. I want to spend time with friends and am to frustrated to even attempt anything else with this mess. (not your fault I can't get the distributor's product to work, sure would be nice if they could).

John Robinson - feel free to PM / email me, I am happy to help work it out. There should be a shortcut that will make the game fullscreen - "Heroes of Steel - Fullscreen.lnk" Other than that, have fun with friends. We will get it worked out.

You have to run the .exe with one argument "fullscreen"
