Yes, but the ability to design your own ship could be very unbalanced by giving you access to severely overbalanced ships.

Damn, an in App purchase I actually want. Son of a gun. I mean, I can resist HoS purchases, sometimes. I cannot resist a Ship EDITOR for Star Traders. Holy cow. I can just imagine my new ship.

With an eHR of 1, I would fly circles around this goat and bring out my paint gun to decorate it. It may have 60 engines, but it's not going to be moving with any meaningful agility. A Nimitz class aircraft carrier has a whopping 260,000 bhp (190,000 kw) worth of propulsion, but displaces over 100,000 tons. The Arleigh Burke class destroyer, on the other hand has 81,000 kw worth of propulsion (42% of the carrier) but only displaces around 9,800 tons (<10% of the carrier). Ergo, the destroyer is way more maneuverable than the carrier ... and why my 20 hull ship with 40 engines will mean you'll never get within 10km of my ship  Ooooh ... bring on the custom ship design!!! <big grin> |

You, sir, do not appreciate the majesty of Death Goat. For a ship that size to have a FAST rating in both Speed and Agility, it means that serious futuristic propulsion has been installed. Thus, as the ship moves at the speed of a destroyer AND with the same agility as a destroyer AND has a cloaking device.... THE GOAT WILL BE SEEING YOU SOON.Fear the Ramrabid  |

Lol. I happen to have a bunch of goats running around a mountain side in the family ranch. That one is the spitting image of one of the mid-aged ones. Hahaha Surprised it isn't taking a dump on the guy. Goats have no GOOD habits when it comes to defecation. They'll as soon crap in their own feeding bowls as do it on grass. rabid |

slayernz - the designer will impose all the same sorts of rules that have been in place for 4 years as Cory has created ships. So, there will be many inherent rules to keep you from simply creating a force of pure evil. That said ... a creative designer ... Okay, so no faction terroxes, BUT... once a 'build your own ship' design is unlocked for a player, its only balanced that certain eenemy captains have custom ships too, particularly on higher levels and difficulties. There should also be other restrictions besides statistical like price, requiring high rank, LV etc Regardless of my concerns, I do think this is an awesome new feature and a good in-app purchase that will certainly be appealing to many. |
