For Amazon-Free it is actually The saves are in /data/data/com.tresebrothers.games.heroesofsteelamazon/
Have a good one -- I transfer saves around like this all the time.

Thank you for all the information. Regrettably, nothing worked. I did a backup of application data only from the S4 with Helium and it saved a .zip file to my PC. Within the .zip file was a very small file called backup.json. The whole .zip was 1K. Not likely what I wanted. I then dutifully restored said .zip to my S6. As with MyBackup Pro, Helium claimed restoration was successful. But, of course, there was no new saved game.
I searched in both the S4 and S6 using the native file managers and could not find the save files where they should be. I checked the S6 when plugged into my PC and had same result. Indeed, within /data/data/ there is no com.tresebrothers.* subdirectory. Yet, clearly the program and the two test games I created exist. I searched the entire S6 phone from my PC using the word "trese" and came up with only two things: com.tresebrothers.games.heroesofsteelamazon_113.apk and com.tresebrothers.games.heroesofsteelamazon_113.zip. Both files were within the MyBackup directory scheme. The same general findings were on the S4, but I had several other similar files in the MyBackup directories. And, of course, the S4 still has the program installed with my well developed game on it. Of some import in that regard, Helium did not delete the save game from my S4 as it claimed it would. That at least is consistent with its apparent inability to find the actual save game.
As a reminder the S4 is running a non-standard OS, so perhaps it moved files, but that seems unlikely. OTOH, the S6 is right out of the box, although I think the Heroes installation was a restored backup. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled Heroes from Amazon and then started a new game. I searched directories again and there was no change in files and folders on the S6 and the search of the entire phone for "trese" revealed only the same two files mentioned above. Now, within the aforementioned MyBackup .zip file appears to be what I am looking for and what should be elsewhere in the phone. The highest level in the .zip is a folder called com.tresebrothers.games.heroesofsteelamazon. In that folder are other folders, including cache, databases, files, app_M3CGOMO6ILJQ65, app_webview and shared_prefs. If I had to guess, I would say that the "files" folder, which includes a lot of game_1*.* files, holds the save data. But where is the current version of everything (rather than this recent backup)?
I am fresh out of ideas and welcome yours. I like the game and can continue playing on my old phone if necessary, but I'd rather not. Thanks in advance, again. Wayne

waynel - when you did the Helium backup, are you sure you selected the app? The sound of the backup size sounds like you might have selected the Heroes app for backup? That's the best suggestion I've got atm.

I may need to try manually backing up save files at some point. But would much prefer to see a save game feature implemented in game. I have HoS elite on both PC and phone but stopped playing a while back out of frustration. Would hit a glitch and end up restarting and redoing to correct, but it's too much of a time sink. Can't see myself taking a party through multiple episodes without a save feature of some kind to avoid doing that again.
Would be much appreciated.

What type of glitch did you encounter? I'm sure we can fix it.

First glitch was from doing quests in an unusual order before heading down the rat holes. Already reported and fixed.
Next two were unintentionally emerging from the deep underground river area before being ready / having fully explored the area. And you can't go back. Yes I did it twice in a row. Grumble. Thought I was being careful enough second time. Whoops.
Whatever the next mishap might be I want a save to limit how much I have to redo. Once I muster the interest to give it another go. 8)

@unawares - sorry that you are so frustrated with the game. There are many regions that you leave and cannot enter, I would not consider that a bug in the game.

That particular issue is more that the transition spots are not marked. I was trying to explore the current map not leave it, and couldn't tell I was walking onto a spot that would cause me to leave the map.
There was mention of adding some sort of meta marking on such squares as a possible solution in the future. Pretty good idea for that one. You guys do a great job of responding to issues as they come up. Which is why I thought I'd take time to provide feedback regarding saves. Would be a great improvement for me given my playstyle and the length of game.
Kudos guys! 8)

I have done some work to design the visual on the meta-tiles that would mark transitions, but putting them in will take a few hours of dedicated time. All heads have been down on the E4 development, and now on immediate patch work following that. We'll get there, its pretty high on my list atm. As to the saved game format, that isn't something we will change. That is baked into the core of the game and has been since it was designed.

It seems that after making maps for Episodes 1-3 I'm obliged to finally beat this game. I'm curious though would transferring saves from OS X to Android work. I gave it one shot already (got the .db and all the fog files) but it's not showing up when I go to load a game. Any tips? advice?

contributor - the saved games are definitely compatible across devices. Can you share exactly what files you moved from OS X to Android? I am interested in the numbers, such as you moved game_3.db and all the fog 3 files? Did you replace files that already existed on Android?

In my case it was the game_19.db and all the game_19 fogs. I did not replace an existing game. I can see why that might be necessary though. On my new device I've only got 1 game. Could I start a new one (thus creating a game_2 file) and rename all my 19s to 2s and then replace?

Could I start a new one (thus creating a game_2 file) and rename all my 19s to 2s and then replace? That would be the trick. I wasn't suggesting replacing game 1, only that if you don't copy all the files (including core.db) then you don't bring the game registry over, and the device won't know about game_19. Create game 2 with the same configuration of heroes, then rename the files and copy them in.
