Although Templar Assault covers a wide variety of Templar ground engagements, it skips over many types of engagements you may find in upcoming games.
In addition to the Heavy Assault Templars you are all familiar with (Hydra and Neptune) there are several other variations.
Titan Leviathan --------------- These Leviathan armor suits are designed for use in deep Gas Giant mining. Smaller physical size is a huge advantage for Titan pilots and in the majority of the remaining Templar designs only female pilots will fit. When deployed in combat, Titan Leviathan are far too slow to engage in hand to hand combat. However, their incredible size and unbelievable ability to ignore damage make them an ideal heavy weapons platform. During the Guild Wars, Titan Leviathan designs called for three Neptune Cannons, twin Plasma Incinerator and a Lance pattern arc weapon normally deployed on small Cruiser hulls.
Valkyrie Leviathan --------------- These Leviathan armor suits are among the most rare of all Templar patterns. Designed for "no pod" drops, an expert Valkyrie pilot can exit a drop ship in high system orbit and execute a precision drop on planet unassisted by fleet resources. Valkyrie suits have limited directed thrust and are sometimes deployed into boarding action in high atmo ship to ship combat. There are action reports from the Guild Wars that record pilots scoring individual kills against mid-sized cruisers caught unaware as the Valkyrie entered low orbit battles from above.

Oooooooooooooooooooooh ... would love to see a Templar Defense level where you position Titan Leviathans in the path of a huge horde of Xenos ... mission: Defend this outpost at all cost. The Xeno's focus is not to kill the Titan - but rather breach the walls of the outpost. That will make it more challenging for the Titan because it would be easy to focus on the few and let the many go past and on to defeat.

It's great to see you fleshing out the mythos! I really started playing TA Elite in earnest today. It's a welcome distraction from CK; I currently have a couple of hundred XP there and I'm begining to worry I've misspent it. Anyway! I always loved the concept of TA (I thoroughly enioyed Space Hulk on the PS1, and the Space Crusade board game. Always love the Warhammer 40,000 artwork too) and I really enjoyed what I played. Now I've started to get into the first campaign, I'm loving it even more! The tactics are right up my street - having to think about facing, defensive AP, study the pre-level map. It's just a great game. If there's anyone here who hasn't tried it yet, well, if you have even a passing interest in tactical turn-based combat I strongly advise you check out the free version to see what you think. Without sounding too sycophantic, that's one of the great things about the Trese Brothers - you can always try the free version first to see if it's something you'd like. And Templer Assault is bloody marvellous!

mataeus - we are happy to always provide a very functional free version for that very reason!

I'm really excited to get to share the mythos with a new group of people. The Templars, Star's Edge, Star Traders and the the Quadrant have been part of a story we have been telling for years and mobile games have really given us a new exciting way to share it.
Regarding a Titan Leviathan Void Suit being featured in Templar Assault, it would be hard to imagine. The armor itself is somewhere between 5 and 10 times larger than a Exo-Scout suit.

Awesome detail! I can only hope that we will get a chance to see these kinds of suits in the future... Maybe with the development of the 4x we can have them be in the game as support units for boarding operations and such? Kind of like fighter wings/boarding pods in Space Empires/Masters of Orion?
Always love reading about TA, it's such a cool universe.

I have to ask why the Templar females are so large they can't fit in a standard leviathan set up XD I assume they look similar, just taller and bulkier- like comparing a draft horse to an arabian. I took the game a bit literally, in how you can de-equip the gauntlet in building this custom Hydra Templar. He's been out of touch with the fleet and lost the hand at some point. So he retrofit the Hydra itself onto the arm. Also stuck a shotgun on the right arm, which also carries a void sword. Theres also an MMU (Manned Maneuver Unit)on the back- I think I'm going to change its appearance or remove it however. I don't mean to change the subject, just reading about the Valkyrie reminded me of the MMU, but it sounds like a much more extensive design than sticking a simple thruster pack on a standard suit.

The the upcoming 4X, Valkyrie Leviathan are particularly valuable because you can land troops on Xeno worlds without a Drop Ship or a ship with Pods left.
They're only available in small numbers, obviously, super expensive.
However, if you played the 4X game to end top end, epic battle ... you could buy and land as many 'Heavy Leviathan Assault Division' troops as you needed.
At some point down the road, when everyone can put it into context, we'll talk about how many CP and Credits it takes to build and train 15,000 Leviathan Assault warriors.

Very interesting. It sounds like they not only have an advanced thruster set up but probably aerodynamic surfaces as well. I've done something like this before. Is this something like you had in mind?

Female Templars are smaller and slimmer than the males of their race. While the Titan chassis is much larger, the space inside it for a Templar to sit and control the battle armor is much smaller. It is better suited for a female or a smaller male.

Heres a very rough idea for how I'd do the Titan. Maybe 15-20' tall, twin rocket pods and gatlings, or lets just say space for two standard templar weapons and two support weapons. The pilot is crammed into the torso, and probably has their head in the mech's head.

I would like to show the torso plate swiveled upward to show the cockpit, but here is a more technically detailed look at what I came up with. I'm not sure if Andrew has already designed the Titan suit or not, but I seem to have made an unholy hellspawn of a Leviathan suit and a Battlemech called HammerHands from BattleTech. I added the standard Leviathan for a size comparison. Its about 15 feet tall, about the size of a Gear or Wanzer from Heavy Gear or Front Mission. Probably at least 5x the mass of a leviathan if not overall volume. The weapons I have on here are rather mundane compared to what Cory describes, but they are all modular. I'm not exactly sure what a lance arc weapon entails- some kind of fusion powered cutting torch? The plasma weapons seem heavy duty, so Lets say this design has 2 arm heavy hard points using gatling canons here, a pair of heavy shoulder hardpoints where the missile racks are, and four light shoulder stations on either side of the racks. The outboard stations have decoy launchers, and the inboard use a pair of dome-shaped sensors on either side of the head but can also mount other equipment. And since I'm a huge mecha nerd, oh, I'll find a way to stick this beastie in the comic BWAHAHAHAHA! Edit: Hopefully I've done some justice here
