I discovered recently a way to pass on your initiative without spending ap. If you select move and then hit finish without moving it spends 1 ap, instead setect 'item' then 'cancel'. A pass for 0 ap.

sparky1x - yep, its on our list to make it not end your turn in this case. The goal of the whole setup was to allow you to think about using an item, decide you don't want to, and not get screwed. Will patch this up in the next release.
