I have had great success in ST with the Explorer class and I wish there was a way for us to harvest gold even if it were a rare drop from an island or wherever. As I have never seen gold anywhere else but on smugglers (sometimes merchants) ships and for sale in town for obscene process, I think it would be great for us to be able to produce our own gold for our country instead of going to war because we start attacking every merchant and smuggler we see.

Smugglers buy their gold at distant ports where it can be found for very cheap. Those parts of the map are not finished  |

It always strikes me as odd that I can't buy gold at a mining camp. I can't buy *anything* at a mining camp that can be sold at a profit elsewhere, for that matter.

I can see "Gold Transport" jobs being available from Mining Camps but I cannot for any reason imagine them *selling* you Gold -- that would make no sense. |
