Hi folks. I want to go after the award for the 100 hull alien. I would like to get an idea of when that mob first begins to appear so I will know when to stop grinding and start hunting. Do any of the veteran alien hunters have this info?
Thanks for any light you may shine upon this matter.

Yeah I recently re-installed the game and I've had a REALLY hard time finding the 100 hull alien. There's only one - known as the "Heela Alien". Patrolling lots of dead planets early on in the game will give you lots of encounters with aliens (it's not uncommon for a single captain of mine to get over 20) as well as space hives, but there's no way to increase the chance of encountering the Heela Alien over any other alien. You just have to be lucky. Here's what'll help you get aliens for dead planet patrol:
- Early time (under 100 AU is optimal, under 200 AU is dealable, over 200 AU will be significantly harder and over 300 AU will give almost nothing for patrol) - Tactics skill (increases patrol encounters in general) - Ship speed (increases patrol encounters in general) - Solar Sails (increases patrol encounters in general) - Bodyguard officer (increases patrol encounters in general) - Artifacts (increases alien encounters specifically) - Null Void generator (increases alien encounters specifically) - Veteran Officer (increases alien encounters specifically)
Perhaps patrolling certain dead planets or being at a higher difficulty will increase the chance of encountering the Alien Flagship (100 hull Heela Alien) but I'm not sure.

I thought perhaps the Heela might only have a chance to spawn once you reach a certain character level or a certain number of turns. It sounds like you are saying that there is a chance to encounter a Heela very early in the game. Is there a chance of any alien encounter at any point in the game yielding a Heela?

Found it! After over 100 alien encounters (literally) I finally found it. Patrol dead planets. Thats when you'll find it.

Was it earlier in the game? Did you have artifacts or no?

Was it earlier in the game? Did you have artifacts or no? Mid game. Aboout 290AE. Artifacts certainly increase Xeno encounters, but they also decrease the wf you can store and hence the amount of times you can patrol dead planets before refueling. Artifacts can also increase alien attack power. So, no I was not carrying artifacts at the time. However, I did have a bodyguard, lots of tactics, wisdom, sails and high ship speed, all which help for patrols. Also had a Xeno vet to help with dead planet patrol specifically
