I know we already have some monsters that are weak vs. Holy and the Unholy draining SP is probably a good counter. Are there any plans to drain enemy SP? Do enemies have SP or do that have an infinite number of powered attacks?
Can you explain a little bit more about what it means to be weak vs. certain damage? How much extra damage are we talking about? Is it a flat rate or a percentage?
On another note: Did death damage get renamed as unholy? I see a lot of Unholy resists but nothing for death, or maybe just not yet.
Thanks in advance for you answers! I'm building out Fyona with Holy Strickening and I'm starting to look into how to maximize magical damage.

@rearick - Unholy is Death Dmg, I don't think we ever called anything "Death Dmg"
There are opportunities coming for the characters to siphon SP off their targets. Stay tuned for E2A2.
If a monster is Weak vs. X it, they have something like -10 Fire Res. If they are caused 10 points of Fire Dmg, each point (up to the maximum of their negative Res) generates an additional point of damage. So ...
-10 Fire Res, caused 6 Ice Dmg = 6 Ice Dmg -10 Fire Res, caused 6 Fire Dmg = 12 total Fire Dmg -10 Fire Res, caused 10 Fire Dmg = 20 total Fire Dmg -10 Fire Res, caused 20 Fire Dmg = 30 total Fire Dmg
In these examples, the monster's Resistance (natural soak any magical damage) would then be soaked all of the "total dmg" numbers as described by the combat thread. I will work on porting this into the combat thread.

Ooohhh! that's cool. I just thought it meant that maybe they had half the resistance to one thing as they had to others.

Super stoked about this! I also thought I remembered fallen saying something in another post but couldn't find it. Is it true that Fyona's Holy Strickening will reduce monster resistance below 0 making them weak vs. magical attacks? Also, does the HS talent effect a reduction in specialized resistance or just the general resistance stat we already see?

Downloaded and running from IndieGameStand. Splash screen is displaying correct version number.
Great job on displaying monster curse effects. Just got Flash Freeze(5) Block Curse really great knowing when not to cast it again.
Thanks for the E1 leveling campsite, really saves a long walk back when 3 out of 4 characters have leveled and right at the end of Krellin deeps the fourth one finally gets the bump. Not to mention I have walked right into Oskahold a time or two because I forgot to level.

@rearick - Fyona's Holy Strickening reduces Resistance, which is the generic soak against all magical damage. Resistance cannot go below 0 and can never "generate" damage like "Weak vs" can. However, high levels of Holy Strickening start to affect Elemental / Holy resistances directly (-4 All Resistances) and this does in fact give them -4 Fire Res, etc. If the monster does not have specific Fire Res stat already, then this will go to negative Fire Res and generate additional damage points as explained above.

There is no mention of -4 All Resists for any of the higher levels. Just as an fyi!

@rearick - the display is fixed in next. That section of the formatter was built to only handle positive numbers.

As someone who understands how powerful encouragement is, I'd like to say that I'm quite pleased with the changes to this game. I've been playing on Nightmare again and this run-through was more FUN than the 1st time I did it. No auto-death bugs. I didn't feel it was plodding. The debuffs on enemy toons help a ton to identify what I'm doing, and I noticed a "Skip All" button that pushes things along quite nicely.

rabidbite - thanks for helping and giving both encouragement and feedback. You and the rest of the alpha team helped us develop the enhancement roadmap that we have hammered on for the last 3 months, and you're seeing the results!

You guys really have made the game tight, easy to play, and fun!

@rearick - Unholy is Death Dmg, I don't think we ever called anything "Death Dmg" Hey, just fought the Baron again and wanted to let you know that one of the damage types that he's listed as dealing in his detail box is Death Dmg. I think that's where I got it originally. I imagine that since he's a unique enemy type that it slipped through.
