It would be a great relief to know I had a way of unlocking a crucial door when I have discovered my character’s security level combined with equipment falls short.
Kjartan’s Talent Warding Words(1) Unloicks Chests and doors at range 3 uses 4 AP 10 Spirit; +2 Lore for Save. Kjartan’s Startup Lore = 2. Minimum level to open Baron’s gate add +4 Lore points or +2 Talent points in Warding Words(2)
Selen and Tamilin - Precision Pick(1) Unlocks chests and doors at Range 1 uses 6 AP and 2 Spirit. +2 Security for Save.
Tamilin’s startup Security = 3. Minimum level to open Baron’s gate add +3 Security Skill points or +1 Precision Pick(2) Talent.
Selen’s startup Security = 2 Minimum level to open Baron’s gate add +4 Security Skill points or +1 Precision Pick(2) Talent.
In EP1 you can find; Incantation of Cleansing Scrolls and Incantations of Sustainment scrolls. On the difficulty levels I play on (Easy or Normal), I’ve never needed one but they could sure come in handy with a group containing Fyona.
How about adding another scroll drop? Incantation of Opening Scroll a one time boost to Security like +4 or some other value.
This could be an important insurance policy against being unable to continue the game. Selen is standing before the Baron’s gate wearing her Silence of Snow boots (+3 Security) and is one point short of opening the throne room so the team can finish the final battle to move on to Episode 2 because I forgot the Baron’s throne room is protected by a Security 6 lock.

John Robinson - depending on how the Security roll-out occurs, this will come along with it!

John Robinson - at the moment, Security ratings aren't really doing very much in the game. This causes some stress among players, because they are worried we are going to "roll them out" in such a way that they won't be able to open chests / doors anymore, because they haven't invested much in Security. Your suggestion is one of the ways that we will help to mitigate this when the locks tighten up!

That's exactly what happened to me last night. My heart was truly broken to reach the gates of the Baron's throne room and not be able to open the Security 6 lock for the final battle that would allow me to unlock Episode 2.
I've played EP1 many times but just plan forgot. Selen has Precision Pick 1 (+2) Security. Security Skill +2, and Slightboot Boots +1 Security for a total of +5 Security.
Last night I simply could not open the gate and it really broke my heart. I spent hours today putting together a thread not yet posted regarding this very concern.
After reading your answer I marched back to the gate and used Precision Pick 1 without wearing the boots and the gate opened. Is this what you meant about the Security rolls?
Last night there seemed no hope to move into EP2 with the best party I ever designed because I could not open that lock to have the final showdown with the Baron.
That does leave me paranoid that it could happen again in a higher episode or act.

John Robinson - that is what everyone is paranoid about, but there should be no worry. We will not do something evil that screws you all over. Trust us, please I am not sure how you were unable to open the locked door. Trust me that it should have opened. Perhaps a bug or a mis-click or something.

Thanks must have been some kind of hickup because last night I tried precision pick at least 5 times. I marched all the way back to Riven Field to see if there was any armor for sale that could boost security by 1 point. In just the few minutes we have corresponded on this I marched back from Riven Field used precision pick and glory be, it opened. You always have my trust, computers and software prove strange bed fellows. Ok everybody out there reading this thread, don't panic and stampede. These guys have our backs and always will !
