Isn't a higher hull armor ratio more effective?
Wouldn't that make armor upgrades more effective for small ships than bigger ones?
So adding hyperion superstructure +dreadnaught architecture for +11 armor say to a ship that has 5 hull 2 armor more effective than a ship with 50 hull and 20 armor?
Would making it a %bonus or maybe static+% better?
Some upgrades make more sense to me on larger ships

That's part of the architect skill you'll develop on the path to ST Expert.
A fine tuned understanding of which upgrades apply best and to what types of designs.
In this case, Hyperion and Dreadnaught make up for it on large ships with bonuses that run directly opposed to the Armor::Hull ratio and curves.

...Hyperion and Dreadnaught make up for it on large ships with bonuses that run directly opposed to the Armor::Hull ratio and curves. I know this is an old thread, but how do these bonuses work? Do they give resistance to damage increasing with how low the Armor/Hull ratio is? Maybe you should put the answer to this in the upgrades' descriptions, since most players wouldn't figure this out, and it could be useful to know.
