Kinda tying back to the CK Encounter Consistency thread, but AoP typically has an agressive action followed by a passive option (fight and avoid, for example). However, once a ship actually enters combat, the order suddenly changes (Retreat, Long guns, Broadsides, Advance). It throws me off almost every time. Would you consider moving the Retreat and Advance options around in the active combat screen so us lily-livered types don't accidently advance? My crew's eyes were popping out of their hollow skulls the many times I pressed advance instead of retreat, trying to get out of trouble. And on a slight aside, would you consider turning down the number of ship encounters? I know I asked before, but it wasn't quite a direct answer (the answer was to an off-topic suggestion). I know the seas can be crowded, but I actually counted and I rarely move five spaces (using the coordinates on the bottom-right) without an encounter. It's an encounter every two to three seconds.

In the future, I do plan to add other types of encounters -- the rate will not be changed, but instead of ships you'll run into worse things like reefs, sharks, sand bars, crew drunkenness

Sailing into the Wind with poor Navigation skills? No, I've been keeping Navigation equal to my level. Its less of an issue now that I'm level 25 or so, but early on even with a one to one level/nav ratio and a fast great great pirate sloop in a good direction it felt a lot like being hounded after by a retail company- I SAID NO DAMMIT! There are some areas in game where I'm entirely sailing in the right direction according to the wind compass and still get 'beating windward'. I wonder if that's a storm rumor in effect I missed?

Nope, you'd have to report those map locations and the device specifics to see if I can help you with that.
