Gaining back reputation

It seems like nothing I do will raise my rep with any of the other factions or TCs.
Example:

Difficulty: Demanding
Ship: Darksail Cutter "River of Stars"
Starting Faction: Ruesland +177 rep
East Acadia TC: -11 rep

I do a bunch of raiding on behalf of EATC, during a trade war. Sold about 50 Journals to EATC during spy war. Killed an Ice Demon ship.
Did 4 Commissions for EATC, all capture/kill contracts.
Results?

East Acadia TC: -11 rep

I attack one particularly juicy Federation merchant, allied to EATC.

I wish I could help, but I managed to piss off all the TC factions myself. I just kinda said "Screw it" and decided to make nice with another major faction instead. With Ruesland AND the Cadari Republic at my side, I find that I care an awful lot less about the trade factions.

After fighting few Krakens and Ice Demons in quick succession, I notice only the reputations for the friendlies went up. Those who give you negative reputation stays. I guess I need to do that kind of fight in their "front steps" next time.

Maybe it depends on how negative you are to start with. I've fixed -200 rep this way, though so I suspect you just have to kill more demons ...
