Yeah, the cheap knock-off 2600 joysticks always crapped out after vigorous game play ... I liked the fact that those joysticks were compatible with the joystick ports on the C64! CK is a very nice Beta ... looking forward to more game updates

I got good use out of my Tron joystick on both the 2600 and the C64. That bad boy had suction cups on the bottom and I stuck it to a copy of the Fiend Folio to give it a broader base.

The Folio is still my go-to book for monsters. That's where the really sweet weird stuff was that nobody knew by heart: Nilbogs, Yellow Musk Creepers, Githzerai and Githyanki, Grells, Kenku, Quillians, Dakon, and the whole Slaad family. Oh yeah.
I'm raising my kids on 1st edition.

Planescape is neat, but once you introduce that stuff to a campaign, everybody's a tiefling or a half-solar. Too many tails and wings in that crowd for my taste.

Yeah, that does happen. But less in my group than you seem to think.
(current racial composition of my players: 3 humans, 1 dwarf, 1 revenant)
For me it's less about group composition and more about the size of the universe you can play in. I'm also fond of putting PCs in way over their heads, like having them talk to gods, and Planescape's pretty good for that. (I also dig epic/mythic feel in stories)
But it's all good, there's plenty of room in gaming for all campaigns. I just have this obsession w. PS.

This is the problem with leaving an open thread on a particular topic open to us in the forum. It invariably ends up being a discussion about aliens, hats, who's got the best torp, ole Turdlip, who can shoot ole Turdlip with the best torp ... oh and now, monsters I grew up on 1st edition and dabbled a bit in 2nd. Never played Planescape though. (Added to Stu's to do list).

"problem"?
I do not think that word means what you think it does . . . ...
Oh, and I think one of those questions has now been resolved. I think we now have sonographic proof that TB's son-to-be has got the best H-K Torp of all.

Actually . . ..
I've heard rumors (from a post by Cory) that one of his (and Andrew's) projects is a fantasy rpg where you wander around a big world doing stuff that sounds a lot like certain sorts of d&d campaigns. (not all campaigns are the same after all)
I think he called it something like "Brotherhood of Steel", but I can't really recall for certain and I think I'm not feeling motivated enough to do a forum search for it. (sorry)

Hi Corey,
If I am not too late to the party, I would love to join the test. It sounds like an interesting concept.
I would also like to take a gander at the unnamed-but really got my hopes up-4X sim you suggested a while back. Oh to finally crack down on those syndicate outlaws and brigands, not as a royal officer, but as the chief advisor... let me rearrange the star lanes and we shan't have any more pirate trouble
