Sure thing! I'll list them step-by-step:
1: Saw an anaomoly and drove my explorer to it 2: Pressed Explore (flashed red for a second, which I thought meant that it was exploring) and went to the forum boards, which closes the app 3: Returned to the game to move some ships around, pressed explore on the planet again to make sure I did it (nothing happened, so I assumed it was fine) 4: Pressed end turn 5: RED ANAMOLY/GAS GIANT STRIKES FOR CRITICAL DAMAGE! And I made it the home of Rychart.

I think you just flung to the future some billions of years, which during that time the gas cloud compressed and ignited into a star then turned into red giant.

Enitrely plausible. Or the anamoly is a black hole shortcut to a red gas giant. Rychart always did like their planets private and well-hidden...

It's okay-- I named the file Phase One TEST One precisely so that I would remember that its just a test/break everything I can find file. Speaking of which, no numbers on the name screens??

I blew through all of those pre-game play menus in 20 minutes so they're deficient.
I was focused on the xenos =)

Cory Trese-- Erm, I *may* have just done it again. I explored an anamoly with my explorer and got a small purple-reddish dot in the center of the anamoly, which happened last time when it morphed into a gas planet. I dunno if it will do it, but I'm making a note here just in case. 1: Moved so that my explorer would get closer to an anamoly. 2: Pressed endturn and opened web browser, which closes the app. 3: Trolled the forum boards. 4: Returned to the game and as the very first action of the turn moved my explorer one space up, next to the anomoly, 5: Pressed explore, got a tiny red-purple dot in the center of the anomoly. 6: Returned to forums to pester Cory. (will update in a moment, going to see what happens)

Speaking of which, no numbers on the name screens?? oh like turns and what map and such? Oh no, I meant in naming save files and naming ships. I had to spell out one instead of 1 and was worried I'd hit a character limit. (continuing from before) TL;DR: Nothing happened YET 7: Returned to the game, which set me back an action because I didn't press save turn. 8: Moved the explorer ship up again, pressed explore and got that same red-purple dot in the middle of the anomoly. 9: Moved the rest of my units and ended the turn. 10: Explore results pop up on th screen and the anoloy stays in its normal pruple-blackish swirl. 11: Returned to forum boards, feeling silly.

I suspect you found a bug, somehow.
My code is full of bugs, as you all know.
It didn't crash. You remember how much Heroes crashed? =)
