Drat, I was hoping for a different alternative... I wonder if there are editing apps on Amazon that could simply change the image extension/cut down the size of the file?
Poof! The Kindle Genie is ready to grant you this wish as well esteemed lady.
We are both Kindle HDX users. The screen snaps we take are high res large size images usually around 1 MB.
The interesting thing is when you send it to Gmail it goes through some kind of compression. If you email it to Phtobucket
it will be cut down to a 1024 x 768 small sized image instead of the 1 MB the Kindle usually kicks out.
You may already know the following about screen snap editing but others might not so here goes.
Take a screen snapshot while playing ST 4x by pressing and holding the power button together with the volume down
button until you hear the camera click sound. Now lets get started.
1.
Photos: Return to home screen, tap on Photos this will display thumbnails of all the photos and screen snaps
currently stored on the Kindle.
2.
Tap Thumbnail of the image you want to edit and it will expand into full screen edit mode.
3.
Edit Image. In upper right hand corner you will see 5 icons. To begin editing tap the "pencil" icon
fourth from left.
You are now in the editing screen. Notice there are a row of 18 different icons at the bottom of the screen
taping these icons will allow you to manipulate the image. Some of the things you can do are add text, sharpen, crop,
add arrows, add stickers, and save as an HD image. Pick any icon and play around with it.
Whenever you have finished a modification you tap the "Apply" button in the upper right corner. You can then continue
adding more effects. When you have the image just the way you want it. Tap "Done" and your updates will be saved.
4.
Email to Photobucket: You can send the image to Photobucket from any mobile device in our case the Kindle
without having to log on. Each Photobucket account is assigned a unique email address to receive and store your images.
Once you know what the email address is, add it to your Gmail contacts. You can email it directly from the Kindle image editing
screen by tapping on the icon that looks like 3 circles attached by two lines in the upper right of the screen.
If you have never done this before; see the reference I made above.
The short version logon to Photobucket, tap username tap settings tap mobile. Your special email address will appear
tap it and it will say "copied" now paste it into your Gmail contacts.
From now on you don't have to be online and can send your images directly from the Kindle into your Photobucket library.
5.
Insert Image into Post: Logon to you Photobucket account and click on the thumbnail image. You can continue
editing the image with Photobucket tools. When you are ready to insert the image, look at the column on the right
hand side of the screen.
6.
Links to Share Photo Left click on the row labeled "IMG" you will see a "copied" message appear in the box.
Return to your post, place the cursor where you want the image and hit CTRL+V
All done here is Kindle screen snap reduced in size from the original 1 MB automatically by Photobucket email and converted to 1024 x 768.
I decided to reduce it further by editing it in Photobucket down to 600 x 375.
